Sectors 1-25
Location: 101-200 ly from Earth
Description: here

Shape of the Super Long Range Emigrant Fleet Sectors
100 ly long cylinder with a radius of 25 ly from the core of the cylinder.
The "core" is generally considered to be the geographical center of the course that the Super Long Range Emigrant Fleet took while navigating through the sector.  It is generally considered to be the "safest passage" (as it's been successfully navigated).  It also provides a link back to Earth, or to the Emigrant Fleet.

Quote
COLONIZATION OPTIONS:
- Super Long Range Emigrant Fleets:
They search for ideal planets.  Once they find one, they plop ALL their resources down and establish a colony (emigrant planet).  Therefore, if any of the planets in the game are NOT ones with the entire compliment of emigrants plopped down onto them, then they must be flawed somehow.  Maybe too cold and stormy (like the planet in the M7 movie), or experience regular radiation storms from the debris trail of a companion star in the system.
- Colonized by accident:
The M15 fleet folded to the orbit of a less-than perfect worlds to gather supplies and use the world as a base camp while scout ships were sent ahead to find a navigable route.  By the time the fleet finds a route and prepares to move, some of the people involved in resource extraction have fallen in love with the world (warts and all), and opt to stay.  A few others join, and perhaps a ship or two remains to provide power (electrical kind) and protection while the settlers get on their feet.
- Sub-emigrant ships within the main fleet.
Like the Akusho district in M7 or the Zentraadi Buritai class flagships.  Maybe when they find a semi-habitable planet that's almost perfect (but not 100% to the standards of the super long range emigration fleet itself), they stay behind on the planet and build a settlement.
- Settled by converted (Zentraadi/Cargo) Ships
Smaller, more recently established colonies settled by people using their emigrant ships as transport, shelter and power supply during the initial set up.  These are generally the most "frontier" (in development, politics, social organization, and law(lessness).  They also compose the majority of settlements in the sector.

General Description of Sector M45-3 and Environs

Sector M45-1
Description: part of the "known" territories.

Sector M45-2
Description: outskirts of the "known" territories.  Borders the Zentraadi Control Zone - occasional raids from the Zentraadi make the sector one of the less desirable ones to emigrate to.

Sector M45-3+/-
Location: 250+ light years from New Patagonia (3 week-fold)
Description: areas with few stars.  Somewhere "beyond" the void are sectors from the trips of other emigrant fleets.

Sector M45-3 Starboard (facing away from Earth)
Location: 250+ light years from New Patagonia (3 week-fold)
Description: Zentraadi controlled territory.  [Allies?  Enemies?  BOTH!]  It's a set, impermeable border that the Zentraadi don't like settlers passing over.

Sector M45-3 Port (facing away from Earth)
Location: 250 light years from New Patagonia (3 week-fold)
Description: an unexplored area of space.  Unexplored because there are dozens upon dozens of fold dislocations.  Perhaps spawned by a black hole?  Or a major Vajra elephant graveyard that spawned the fold carbon and quartz deposits in this sector.  Doesn't matter what.  Just that there's something there causing a navigation hazard.  On the FAR side is a chain of sectors from a different emigrant fleet.

Sector M45-3
Location: 250 light years from New Patagonia (3 week-fold)
Description: a large population with many settled worlds because the sector is rich with fold carbon (not all of it, but a number of star systems near the main colony).  [Fold carbon is used in fold drives and is in high demand in the Macross Universe.]  Some of the planets are less than ideal places to live.
The region of space has a lot of stellar objects and phenomena.  Habitable planets are a rarity, but there are plenty of white dwarf and red giant stars, with plenty more planets orbiting them; with perhaps the odd habitable moon orbiting a Jupiter-like planet.  There are also a few smallish nebulae, and a couple dozen free-floating planets (mostly like Jupiter, but light-years from the nearest star), and possible even a micro-black hole or two lurking in the background - the kinds that are small and weak enough that they are not so much black, but greyish from the light that's just barely escaping from them.

ECONOMY
Lots of small mining claims and colonies trade fold quartz and food stuffs for manufactured goods with the main colony, Caesar.  They don't like the arrangement, and some of the larger colonies are actively trying to develop their own manufacturing body.  Caesar trades with Earth and the areas near Earth for high technology, which it in turn uses to trade with it's dependencies (the network of smaller colonies and mining claims it trades with).

Sector M45-4
Description: "Terasi sector".  There might be some residual conflict with the Terasi neighbours (perhaps some people are "allied" or "spies" for them in "our" sector.)  Basically, a blocked path.

Sector M45-10
Location: 1,000 light years from Earth (3 month-fold)
Current location of the M15 fleet.

Caesar
BACKGROUND
Caesar is one of the more inhabitable planets in the sector.  It serves as the Sector Government as it was established by the M15 to be in charge of the others colonies in the sector.

Caesar was the main initial colony that the M15 dumped it's populace on.  It is a small world that is quite suitable for colonization.  Unfortunately its resources could not sustain the millions of colonist that it was required to.

Some of the residents grew more and more dissatisfied with the prospects of the colony (both physical and socioeconomic / social-stratification).  Shortly after Caesar was established, they left to establish and populate colonies on planets orbiting nearby stars that were attractive in some way - these planets are flawed, but in ways that suit the colony founders.

ECONOMY
Caesar is the main trade depot and is the center of commerce and technological development in the sector.

Due to its circumstances, the Caesarians tend to exploit the other colonies in the sector.  Capitalists in the colony also don't want the sector status quo to change, and are actively suppressing developments that will bring about changes to their lucrative arrangement.

There's a Factory Satellite in orbit.  The Factory Satellite is used to provide for Caesars needs, as well as trade goods with the smaller colonies and settlements.

In a way, the Caesarians have become the "new" haves, and tend to speak disparagingly about the other colonies among each other, but are professional businessmen, all smiles and positive talk while ripping the other colonists off.

PERCEPTION
How Perceive Others: looks down on the other colonies and considers themselves as the best in the sector.

How Perceived By Others: seen as fat, lazy, corrupt and snobbish.

GOVERNMENT
Caesar has the headquarters of the sector New Unified Government, and is the seat of the sector forum (like ASEAN, it doesn't have any *real* power, and is mostly a forum to discuss sector-wide problems, trade and making recommendations).
The colony is democratic to a fault - decisions are slow as politicians are self-serving and corrupt.  People are apathetic toward voting due to the corruption and sense of nothing ever getting done.

Allegiance: New Unified Government allied

Population: 12+ million

CITIES
Nova-Roma
Main city.  Population: 10 million.

By alanlisleca at 2011-11-07

Tercius
2nd largest city.  Population: less than 1 million.

Trastevere
3rd largest city.  Population: less than 300,000.

Rural Settlements
Small Cities: approximately 700,000 spread evenly in these satellite cities of the main 3.
Towns: approximately 150,000 spread evenly.  Towns are mostly located in farming areas serving as centres of commerce, and distribution.
Villages: approx. 100,000 residents spread evenly.  Villages are the most numerous settlement on Caesar, but their respective populations rarely exceed 150 residents.

MILITARY
Pending

HISTORY
2047
- the M15 fleet drops half of its population off on Caesar, and after losing too many messages because of things like fold faults, the colonists pretty much settled down.
- due to the situation, large groups left to found the other major colonies shortly thereafter.

ORBIT
Brutus

A small Factory Satellite, originally used for producing Regaado Battle Pods.  It's currently used for producing consumer goods, VFs and shuttles, but not much more.  It provides for Caesar's needs, as well as trade goods with the smaller colonies and settlements.
  • City 15 Replica
A replica of the M15 Fleet's City 15, with a large population living within it, facilitating trade, manufacturing and so on.  It serves as the seat of the sector forum.
The city is considered to be neutral territory under the jurisdiction of the New Unified Forces.
Allegiance: New Unified Government; though strong economic and political ties with Caesar.
    Population: 300,000 - 350,000 microns
Military: small detachment of New Unified Forces, mostly used for defending the Factory Satellite and occasionally dispatched to police the sector.

Ship Yards
Small.  Capable of making frigates and cruisers, but is mostly used for repair and maintenance of the fleet stationed in the sector.

Small Rocks
Several in satellite orbits.

Aertheold
BACKGROUND
Aertheold’s Enlighten Administration originated first on City 15 before any of these Colonies were formed.  City 15’s elite had social allegiances going on through most of the fleet’s mission.  They belong to the same country clubs, business clubs and most importantly an exclusive high-intelligence club.

Most of the fleet’s elite ended up settling on Aertheold.  They saw the changing political power structure of the former Unified Government and together brought forth their own Enlighten Administration.

Aertheoldians are actually politically motivated into believing that they have been wronged by ever even being placed in the M15 fleet to begin with, and then they emigrated to a substandard planet, Aertheold, after having been set down on another substandard planet, Caesar!

Irregardless of where resources show up, they feel that they're entitled to them, and that anyone willing to go along with the Unified Government passively is a collaborator in Aertheold's misfortunes.  They don't have the strength of character, or guts if you will, to challenge the sector headquarters though, and so in their disgruntled state they willingly condone predatory actions on others.

CULTURE
The Society Elite of Aertheold have been adopting many aristocratic habits.  Lessons in riding, fencing and etiquette are very popular.   Education is still one their most highly desired traits.

EDUCATION
Aertheold's University is so well regarded that many citizens of the other colonies in the sector try to enrol in it.   Recently the university has been limiting the number of exchange students.

ECONOMY
Resource wise, Aertheold is really only able to sustain its own population.   What Aertheold has to offer are some of the most highly educated and organized administrators.   Through their management, many of the other colonies grew at an accelerated pace.   Many of these other colonies are now fully able to manage themselves, but Aertheold knows they needed the Enlighten Administration that only they can provide.    Bureaucrats from Aertheold have dispensed throughout the area to administrate and collect taxes.  Their largest source of revenue is tariffs coming in and out of the area.

PERCEPTION
How Perceive Others: look down on others as dim witted.  Helps others, but tends to exploit them at the same time.  All citizens of Aertheold feel a sense of accomplishment.   Colonists from the other worlds are well aware of this.
How Perceived By Others: seen as snobs who should mind their own business.

GOVERNMENT
Logically democratic.  Relatively quick decision makers.

Aertheold is ruled by an aristocratic council of the colony’s elite.  The other colonists of Aertheold have always enjoyed a higher standard of living through the direct or indirect contribution from the elite, and welcome their continued prosperity.

Allegiance: New Unified Government allied

Population: 4.5+ million

CITIES
Brus'sk
Main city.  Population: approx. 4 million

Danica
2nd largest city.  Population: less than 100,000

Helsephine
3rd largest city.  Population: approx 75,000

Rural Settlements
Small Cities: approx. 150,000 residents
Towns: approx. 125,000 residents
Villages: approx. 75,000 residents

MILITARY
As part of the treaty, the New Unified Forces still maintain a garrison on Aertheold and performs regular patrols of the colony.
The former Unified Forces garrison commander humbly accepted an offer as leader of Aertheold’s new Self-Defense Force at the time of transition to the New Unfied Government.   The Self-Defense Force was built upon a paramilitary force that backed the original independence cabal, Aertheold’s pre-declaration police department, and several security officers that served Aertheold’s leading citizens and businesses.   Aertheold makes the bold claim that its Self-Defense Force is consists of every adult male in his prime.   This puts them close to a million strong army.  Validity of this claim is in doubt by military strategist as attending a week long annual  training session is optional.   Aertheold has yet to provided accurate numbers of how many of its citizens attend them.  Its Self-Defense Force of regular full-time soldiers is closer to 1% of its claimed size.  Of that it can field a battalion worth of combat troops.    Mecha Troops and a Space Navy are virtually non-existant among Aertheold actual forces.   They rely on drone VF-11 and Ghost fighters.  Qualified recruits are hard to come by as they are competing with the local New Unified Forces garrison.  To supplement their numbers of professional soldiers, Aertheold has been making contracts with several Private Military Companies.   Most of these are Zentradi Mercenaries with their mecha and ships that came over from the Zentradi controlled territory.   Aertheold's N.U.N.S garrison is rather nervous now being out numbered by so many militant giants.  Several elite smaller professional companies have been hired to act as advisors and to shape the Zentradi supplemental forces into a discipled force.   Such a large force of Zentradi is more than is needed to defend a single planet of Aertheold's size.  They are more suited for a war of aggression.

HISTORY
2047
- colonists left Caesar to found Aertheold.

Bo-yae
BACKGROUND
Bo-yae got the short end of the stick and consider themselves the 'have nots'.  They think that they have been wronged and have proclaimed a sort of manifest destiny against the 'haves' in Aertheold & Caesar.  They recently discovered the elephant graveyard planet in a separate system nearer to their solar system.  It creates the resources required to really take the fight to the 'haves".  Now they've got a chance to get the better end but feel that the Aertheoldians are being jerks about it and NUNS isn't being much help either.

ECONOMY

Trade in common to heavy elements has turned into a cash cow for the Bo-Yaeans.  They usually turn in a huge profit as the shared nature of their culture keep overhead low.  However, Bo-Yae must make huge purchases in Bio-maters (Protein, Medical and live botanical) to keep their fast growing population fed; healthy and their farms expanding.  Bo-Yae also has a booming exploratory science R&D developments in deep core mining and core-stability terra forming which is turning into a saleable market, especially to small start-up colonies looking for a way  to harvest planetary resources.

PERCEPTION
How Perceive Others: Patronizing, invasive and anti-community.  Long time Bo-yaeans hold deep grudges, and this tends to rub off on any who live there for any length of time.

How Perceived By Others: xenophobic, territorial, self-interested/serving and have a ghetto-like fraternity.

GOVERNMENT
Regionally democratic "Havens" . Planetary oligarchy held by "founding fathers" families; not rich, but rather socially powerful.

Allegiance: still loosely allied with the NUNS defense agreement and interplanetary association.

Population: 4.5+ million

ambassador: Nicolas Peige, one of the founding colonists of the planet; he acts as both the planetary spokesperson, as well as ambassador.  A tall heavy set man, obviously well fed, a stranger to physical labour. He has small beady eyes that never seem to blink.  Grey hair tops his head despite being only in his early 40s.  He has a thin raspy voice, and speaks for his colony as if it was his personal item.  He is generally condescending, whenever he bothers to talk to anyone.

the main political leader  see above.  The founding fathers who act as leaders of the planet are Nicolas Peige(see above), Sammy Overhaen (a vocal and prideful man; slight of body with large whiteish eyes and a shock of pink hair only at the front of his head, mid 40s), Tabitha Conne(Daughter to Bertha, the original of this family, Tabitha is 17 and new to her position, typical Germanic looking young blond, she is vocal and dertermined speaker, opinionated and rude),  David Eds(The oldest of the founding members at 57, david was a working man and his hard manner, thin mouth and quite calm composure and voice speak volumes, he maintains a passive role in leadership) and Ernst Vanner (Stepping into his fathers shoes at the same time as Tabitha took over for her mother Ernst is almost as vocal, but much better liked for his rugged good looks and clean demeanor.)

top military leader ; Commilius Vanner stepping down after the assisination of Bertha Conne; C. Vanner took up the postion of Commander of World Arms; Leader of the PDF and the SEF(space expeditionary force) Commilius has little in the way of command experience and it shows in the planets recent maneuvers, He is a short tempered brute of a man, heavy handed as the deep wrinkles in his face. Squirley in action as the tight curls of brown hair on his brow. He was liked as a community leader, however is slowely failing to meet expectation in his current position and may be on the way out.

Second Military leader Jerras  Hellopa is C. Vanners direct opposition.  Jerras commands the SEFs command ship the Veronice (After Jerras’ wife… the ship name changes with commanders)  Many speculate that this man is the next true leader of the military forces of Bo-Yae.  Though he is not of one of the 5 first families or even related to one of the Haven leader families.  Jerras is a smart man of quick wit; he has short cut blong hair and swarthy skin in bold contrast.  His slanted eyes are bright green and focused on whomever he talks to.

- the ship most likely to be deployed in an emergency (class & name) & it's captain; Uraga class,  SEF-Veronice under Commander Jerras H.
________________________________________
CITIES
Shersopae
Main city.  Population: 4 million
Dome like buildings sprawled in a line with the equator, with fin-like attachments (moisture collectors) and fields spread about dominating the view of the massive city.  To the sun-ward side continues banks of solar collectors provide the city with almost 10 times the power it needs under the harsh glare of their sun. However, the high maintenance cost solar panels are allowed to drop out of service as systems from Omnacrest take over the power grids needs. Now, in 2060 most still standing solar grids are dysfunctional or privately operated.

Va
2nd largest city.  Population: less than 100 thousand

Va exists at the equatorially direct opposite to Shersopae, and was initially founded only for  defense purposes and has not grown beyond its surrounding region due to the lack of a need for a population there.  The city is centered around a huge defense facility and mecha/military construction facility.  This facility accounts for 38% of the  working population.

Omnacrest.
3rd largest city .  Population:  15,000  this city is actually almost completely unknown to people from the outside (planetary forgeigners) as it is entirely underground; housed in a portion of a massive quartz geode; the interior diameter of which is nearly 6 kilometers.  Omnacrest is a mear 35 kilometers surface distance from Shersopae, and provides 75% of its power generation.  Omnacrest was founded by the mining company by the same name, formed pre-Bo-yae colonization days.  The mines pull 8 to 12 tons of pre-process mid range elements from the ground.

Rural Settlements
Small Cities: approx. 10000 residents
Towns: approx. 3000 residents
Villages: approx. N/A residents (there are no villages, life here is too desperately hard to facilitate such a small population being able to survive)

MILITARY
  • Orbital Defenses exist.  One is the NUNS local precept defense station.  Note no NUNS personnel are permitted to mingle with the population or station on the planet-side.
  • Bo-Yaes Defense force is known as the PDF (Planetary defense Force); consists entirely of an “army” force  of infantry, light vehicles, medium size mobile armor, heavy stationary defenses.
  • Bo yae Offensive Forces are entirely space born; consist of reconditioned ARMD II platforms; numerous non-transformable fighter craft are seen in Bo-yae planetary and system space. The group is known as the SEF (space expeditionary force)
  • Bo-Yae has its own Orbital Defense Platform, armed by its own people.  However the real power in the system is a PMC group stationed on the frozen surface of the moon.  This group ranges in size with the determined local threat. Lately the group has run upwards of 50 fighters with sub-stations at the core of each asteroid cluster close to the planet.
  • Bo-Yae has an expedition force, commissioned with the discovery of the rouge planet.  Currently little is known about this force except that what equipment it has is almost on par with NUNS firepower; and though they fly the planetary colors many have speculated that this is simply another Mercenary or Private military group.

HISTORY
  • 2047
    - due to the situation, large groups left to found the other major colonies shortly thereafter.
The second group of people to leave Caesar.  A strong socialistic group formed on the M15 itself long before being separated from the emigration ship.  Their animosity was provoked by the capitalistic Aertheoldian and Caesarians.  Segregated and looked down upon, the Bo-yaeans took action on Caesar after an attempted to further physically segregate them from the new colony.
The planet they chose to live on was one of the least hospitable planets; but rich in common elements,  carbon silicon and iron.  Despite the desert extremes in temperature and the bizarre equatorial strip they were required to live in on Bo-Yae, they have had great success in rendering a good life from the thin pickings.
    • -Nicolas Peige, Sammy Overhaen, Bertha Conne,  David Eds and Commilius Vanner the founding members of the Bo-Yae group aboard the M-15 open the doors of forum to the possibility of Democratic government.  This forum lasts for 36 days and all people on the planet are welcome to speak or petition the group. During the “Thousand Talks” as the event is eventually known, the political stability is formed with each area becoming known as a “Haven” of the local authority figure who, selected by the locals, reports and petitions the 5 family groups that control the planet.
    • 2049
      - Bertha Conne is assinated by a business rival for her land stake on a local highly productive “fishing” operation.  Berthas’ daughter steps up to take her place at the age of just 17,  there is some upheaval at such a young leader, in an bold move, Commilis Vanner puts his own son forward, also 17, in his place. The social turmoil settles with the agreement majority vote of the Havens.
    • 2052
-Founding of Va as a military outpost
    • 2054
-Omnacrest develops deep core mining facility and begins generating power to supply Shersopae.
    • 2055
      -City of Omnacrest founded underground.
    • 2058
-Pirate wars of U-o-Has plain.  A determined group of pirates, well equipped and with a substantial force actually occupies this strategic high ground and holds the planet ransom to itself for 7 weeks before the planets PDF finally manages to pull off some daring moves to drive the pirates off.  ALL veteran pilots and military personal that are from Bo-Yae took part in this battle. The battle was won in a decisive move by dropping heavy stationary defense cannons from space in Kamakazi maneuver lead by members of the Overhaen family. While successful all crews of those guns perished, either shot from the sky, or killed as their guns impacted on the pirates defenses. Overhaen are the poorest of the 5 families and there is some rumor that they were forced to martyr themselves. Despite that, Overhaen is held in heroic fame now.

Carthage
BACKGROUND
The planet is mostly internally stable to maintain the balance of power.  Most squabbles are political ones as various elite haves try to rise to the top.  The colony tends to keep to itself as external contact tends to disrupt the balance of power.
Primarily haves with some have-nots.  The maltreated have-nots do the majority of the hard work for the haves.  Have-nots have increased their percentage of the population relative to the haves (higher/lower birth rates) and there are hints of rebellion on the horizon.
Note: only the elites are freely allowed to go off-world.  Anyone else has escaped and cannot go back!

ECONOMY
Major exporter of food stuffs (seafoods such as fish, seaweed and salt) to the other colonies in the sector.

PERCEPTION
How Perceive Others: The haves see outsiders as below them, while most of the Havenot's have yet to meet outsiders,
How Perceived By Others: elites seen as stuck up.  Have nots as pathetic losers who let themselves be exploited.

GOVERNMENT
Aristocracy.

Allegiance: Neutral.  New Unified Government and Sovereign Independent States are treated equally by the colony.  In some senses, Carthaginians are playing the two off of each other to get better deals, and they don't intend to change this situation until it stops benefiting Carthage.

Population: 2.5+ million

CITIES
Tunis
Main city.  Population: 2 million

Phoenicia
2nd largest city.  Population: less than 50,000.

Byrsa
3rd largest city.  Population: less than 30,000.

Rural Settlements
The majority of the have-nots live in these settlements, all of which cater to some kind of manufacturing industry or farming.
Small Cities: approx. 70,000 residents
Towns: approx. 100,000 residents
Villages: approx. 250,000 residents

MILITARY
The Mainstay of the Carthaginian Militia are the infantry armed with with large assortments of man-portable Heavy Weaponry, including Anti-Vehicle, Anti-VF and Anti-Emplacement type missiles and high powered Laser and Kinetic based weapons.
Additionally there does consist of a Large amount of VF11 and VF17 craft, while these can be seen as outdated by most of the civilised galaxy, the Carthage Government were able to acquire them wholesale at a vastly reduced price, unfortunately the reputation of most Carthage based pilots is looked down upon as the main duty that they perform is that of ceremonial, with a large amount of their training time based on this rather than be more combat orientated.
Carthage is also one of few planets away from earth that has an actual seabased navy, consisting of a half dozen cruiser ships and two carriers, but does employ a large amount of smaller patrol sized vessels doing the bulk of the day to day duties. Unlike the Ground and VF forces the Carthage Sea Navy is a force to be reckoned with, a uncarthage like staunch attitude to protect there sea's from the rising Pirates that prey on the fisherman and leisure seekers.
Orbiting Carthage is a Single Uraga Class Carrier and some old Meltran Scout ships, there duty is to act as an early warning and defence network to give the ground based forces time to mobilise and defend the planet and its city's.
The Uraga Class Carrier is named the CS Hannibal, and is captained by close to retirement and biding his time Commodore, Abaan Bhakar.

Notes: large part of training is for ceremonies and other venues to show off the "power" of the haves.  Due to this, combat forces are somewhat less effective due to extensive training in showy manoeuvres.

HISTORY
2047
- due to the situation on Caesar, a large group of haves with some have-nots left Caesar to found Carthage.

ORBIT
Inner orbit - Rocks of Carthage
Pair of small, Trojan-like clusters of asteroids, kept in relatively stable groups at roughly the same orbit on opposite sides of Carthage by the outer orbiting bodies.

Outer orbit - the Sentinels
2 large captured asteroids and a cluster of rocks from a geologically recent fracturing of a 3rd asteroid in a relatively stable orbit.

Star System Description

Carthage
Sector Tertiary Colony

Star: Carthage
Type: red giant
Size: 2.8 Sol

Gas Giant
Absorbed into the corona-sphere of the sun, but it is now impossible to tell.  Orbit is opposite of the other orbital bodies in the system.

Carthage
Oceans are phenomenally deep.  Experiences low plate tectonic movement and volcanic activity.  Hyper thick crust.  No frozen poles.
Type: planet
Size: 200% Earth
Orbit: non-elliptical
Navigation: buoys, military ships, satellites
Native flora is oceanic, except a wide variety of lichen.
Resources: limited plate/volcanic activity has made for a slightly mineral poor surface.
Size: 30% earth
Gravity: 1.4 g (dense rocky core)
Atmosphere: 100% density; high nitrogen taint (smelly)
Temperature: +2? to +18?.  Generally the whole planet is cold, with an average temperature of 2?, except in a small equatorial belt, where the temperature maintains a steady 18?.
Water: 82% surface (salty)
Volcanoes: 1% of surface

Outer Asteroid Belt
Majority of asteroids are in clusters, indicating that a number of planetoids were destroyed by tidal forces in the recent geological history when the gas giant transitioned from an outer orbit to an inner one.

Personalities of Carthage

Prime Minister Abdulla Sayid - A Frugal, Nervous and Cautious man, unknown to most he is an alcoholic and is rumoured to have several mistress's in addition to his two wifes. Abdulla is in his Late Forties, with a skinny build and a head full of grey hair and moustache.

Prime Minister's Aide Tarik al Hussain -  A Quiet and scheming man who is secretly pulling the strings of the prime minister and steering him in a direction that will alienate Carthage from the local sector even more by pushing from extreme immagration and isolationist policie's. Tarik is in his late twenties and has a small build and has fair to medium brown hair.

Ambassador Elohime Shuharto - A loud brash man who is not against taking a back handed deal to line his own pockets or the walls of his stately home on a mountian over looking Tunis. Elohime is in his early Forties and is of an average build with an unremarkable but verging on unrememberal look about him.

Commodore Abaan Bhakar - An ageing career military man who has been everywhere and seen everything, he is now wishing just for a quiet live until he reaches his death bed. Abaan's wife had passed away 14 years ago during the exodus from Ceaser to Carthage, she was able to die mere seconds after the ships coming into view of the planet they would of called home and remarked how beutiful it was and how she wants to visit the Waters of Kadesh.

De Moins
BACKGROUND
Mostly have-nots with a few haves; who wanted to become petty dictators of their own when they left Caesar.
The haves established separate countries on the colony.  Over time, the have-nots in some of those countries eventually overthrew their petty dictators and have gone to war with the neighbouring petty dictators, who are all trying to take advantage of the instability and grab territory.
The colony keeps to itself as it's too busy dealing with domestic problems.  Other colonies in the sector also don't interfere, as the internal conflicts have spawned a highly profitable armaments industry in the sector with the supply of mostly infantry and infantry support materials to the various countries of De Moins.

ECONOMY
Exporters of food stuffs (variety of flora, protein-rich meat substitutes made from native insects).  The export of the occasional small fold quartz crystal found in one of the number of fold carbon seams that lie near the surface enables the more ruthless petty dictators to fund the means to maintain their grip on power - usually mercenaries, but occasionally also privateers and PMC.  These fold crystals are sometimes referred to as "conflict quartz" by others in the sector, and there are movements in some colonies to prevent their sale.

PERCEPTION
How Perceive Others: the bulk of the population are generally envious of the higher living standards.  The petty dictators generally look-down on others as their standard of living is quite high, and they are generally drunk on power.
How Perceived By Others: the petty dictators are seen as selfish juveniles who easily part with their money.  The general populace are pitied, but no one feels particularly motivated to help them.  The have-nots who have liberated themselves are seen as freedom fighters, fighting a just and decent fight.  But little more than moral support tends to be sent their way.

GOVERNMENT
Various.  Some are autocratic, others aristocratic.  Only the smallest of countries are true dictatorships.  The liberated have-nots are either semi-communist or semi-democratic.

The primary colony organization is ESCALUS (effectively the same as ASEAN) - used to provide a unified front for external diplomacy when needed.  It is located in the Colony Defence Force's military base Paris.

Allegiance: each country is different.  In general, allegiances (both internal and external) change with the circumstances of the day.

Population: 2.5+ million

CITIES: WIP

The primary colony organization (like ASEAN) is ESCALUS - used to provide a unified front for external diplomacy, in the CDF military base Paris and the Main battleship is Mercutio; and two transport ships for external trade with the other colonies (trade made under the aegis of ESCALUS: John & Laurence.

Country A is House of Capulet
Major cities/areas/continents/moon bases are Peter, Gregory and Sampson

Country B is House of Montegue
Major cities/areas/continents/moon bases are Abram and Balthasar

Country C is the House of Romero
Major city/area is Benvolio

Country D is the House of Jules
Major city/area is Tybalt

Country E is the House of Verona
Major city/areas are Petruchio , Rosaline and Valentine.

MILITARY
Colony Defence Force - in theory it's a collection of troops from the various countries on the planet, but in practice it's a place where the least capable troops, or the troops most in need of rest and healing from the constant skirmishes between the countries are sent.  It's only appeal is that it provides neutral territory for ESCALUS.
Mercutio - the Main battleship
John, Laurence - two (2) transport ships used for trade of foodstuffs with the other colonies in the sector (trade made under the aegis of ESCALUS) [note:

HISTORY
2047
- due to the situation, large groups left to found the other major colonies shortly thereafter.

ORBIT

SMALLER COLONIES

Lydia

The 1st Water world
Covered in mangrove so dense it makes “continents out of their structure

Lydia; the whole planet is named after the woman who founded the colony here; built into the superstructure of the giant mangrove trees.  The whole city (of some 30000) is built into the climax section of forest that has no new growth.  Concerns are growing in the city of Lydia-Lydia about the structure of the trees being able to support more and more as the population grows. Current engineers report that the structure is stable.  The planet is known for its booming fish (frozen on the nearby planet sub colony Lydia-2) export, and of course water exports (some 100,000 tons per year)

The shallow oceans (ranging in depth from a mere 10 feet to 8 miles in depth support a huge bio-sphere of amphibian-fish fauna.  The mangrove trees at first appear to be of a single variety, but actually consist of over 200 sub-species of 8 different species.  Each species ranges mostly climatically; but also depth of ocean playing a major factor.  The mega-fauna “sawfish” actually make nests inside the trees and spend their dormant time out of the water suspended from the lower sides of the mangrove roots, this predatory amphibian is 4-5.5 meters in length, sports a massive jaw with small poor eyes, a fantastic sense of smell and vibration.  Four huge (50 cm to 100 cm long) fins are tipped with semi prehensile claws that grip prey with needle sharpness; while the mega-faunas scorpion-like tail skewers is prey to death.

The “continents” of Lydia form a large archipelago;  12 major islands of trees stretching from the far north south past the equator almost half way to the south pole, where a small barren outcrop of rock represents the only real “land” mass surfacing above water. The islands are crescent shaped around the largest, where the city of Lydia-Lydia is located.  The rest of the planet is Deep Ocean (approximately 97% of the planet, depth ranging from 8 miles to 32 miles running in deep trenches)

Due to the cool interior of the planet, most deep ocean bottoms are layers of frozen gases and high pressure liquids.  Volcanic activity is low to non-existent.  The magnetic field around the planet is weak and the atmosphere, although thick and dense is very shallow,

Midway
Background:
The Midway System was originally found by accident, being a relatively small and isolated system and with its dense asteroid and dust field surrounding it, it was only when a Squadron of VF's from the M15 fleet suffered engine troubles on a deep space scouting run, and drifted through the cloud and found the system, after being rescued the pilots were asked what they wanted to call their new discovery, so they collectively named it after an Atoll on earth given the systems Atoll-like appearance and being midway between two stellar phenomenon.
Shortly after its discovery, A badly Damaged Nupetiet Vergnitz-bis had been dispatched to act as a founding mark to form a colony on the planet, the Nupetiet Vergnitz-bis had a couple of smaller destroyer sized ships act as escort but on their travel through the cloud were to badly damaged to do much more than settle on the planet as well. A few years later a venture Capital Company set a proposition to the UN Council that if they could ensure a safe passage through the cloud for larger ships that they be allowed to with the help of the UN form a trade route using Midway as a layover, Their requested was granted and within 3 months the company had setup an array of PPB stations to form a tunnel large enough to fit a city section ship through.
During this time The company also formed a Academy to train pilots to Fly VF, using the natural features of the system as a varied training ground the academy gained a reputation as offering on of the best Pilot courses this side of Eden, Some even said the course far excelled that of Eden and Earth based Institutions.

Midway has no formal system wide government, but has a mayor of the city formed from the original colonizing ships, Henderson, act as inter-system representation. Also Midway does not have its own standing Military force, Instead system defence is provided by the pilots from the Academy, gaining actual real life combat experience while training, which is somewhat unheard of in other courses throughout the galaxy.

Small Settlements
Countless
Description: crazy hermits, families to small towns independently operating their own mines, agricultural settlements or what have you on scores of different worlds.  The more successful of them tend to get (forcefully) taken over by the larger colonies.

Volcano World
LOCATION: Counter-spin 6 degrees; -3 lightyears,  relatively close to the core colonies.

Red-Dwarf Star (Perteras)
2 planetary rings
Keke (Purple Small Gas Giant, 8 moons, 4 orbiting rocks, 1 trojan frozen gas-ball), Munak (Red medium Gas Giant, 11 moons)

Pyon-Pyon 2nd moon from Munak. This 0.35 earth size volcanic nightmare of a planet has only a 0.3 of a standard g due to having a partially hollow core, a healthy absence of any heavy elements, and a close proximity to is host gas giant. The planet has a close stmosphere of heavy volcanic gasses, sulphic pools lightly in some deeper gully and avenues. However the realy eye-catcher here is 10 to 20 kilometer volcanic spouts that spring up like a forest along its tectonic plate edges. The low gravity and high volcanic activity has bred these volcano trees in a unique environment.

There are no settlements on the planet, and no established permanent orbitals. The planet itself is two fragile to land on the surface, even if one could tolerate the 350+ degree surface temperatures, the surface itself could not support most habitations mass, even at the reduced gravity, as the surface is a mear half kilometer thick crust at its thinist, its tectonic plates at their thickest only 5 kilometers thick.

The planet is known as a tourist destination for its amazing natural creations, constantly being formed (something like a mount Pele) into twisting deforemed towers that reach their zenith and then crumble away, giving dust to the already muggy atmosphere and and new section of font to be built back up.  Occasionally (every 10 to 12 months) one of the towers, or a series of the tower collapse dramatically, ripping slowely through the thin crust exposing the blazing interior of the planet as the plates suddenly shift.

Numens Inc; a private mining platform (actually plat-forms) makes a hefty profit off this dangerous planet by pulling near perfectly pure C-60 off of the surface of the planets crust. Numens Inc. Enploys nearly 2000 people on up to 7 different platforms at a go; usually in 6 to 8 week stint on the surface (actually only near the surface, the platforms hover). Tpyically pull for employees during their service is 3400 per week, with a danger pay bonus of 1000 credits per week past the first 8 days(most people don’t make it past the first week)

Past Location of the Illicit underground racing ring TRAXS

Water World

LOCATION:  Spinward 65 degrees  + 42 lightyears from the galactic plane (one of the furthest planets habituated still inside the sector)

Small Yellow Star (Methanisuka)
5 planetary Rings
Janoa (crispy rockball) , Genoa (molten core  rockball, 2 moons), Rinoa (waterworld 2 moons),  Isanoa (huge frozen rockball 2 moons), Methanisuka Jr. (Huge Gas giant, 3/5ths the size of the sun. NO MOONS!!! Very rare), 2 asteroid belts further out, mostly ice.

Rinoa; 3rd planet from the star known by the name Methanisuka was covered entirely in ocean, observed to have an advanced ecology and a dense atmosphere close hugging its sphere spanning oceans. Rinoa has two moons, both dirty iceballs, suspected to have been formed at the same time as Rinoa, but never accruing enough mass to become fluid.  Rinoa is about 6 earth masses having an average  gravity of 1.8 standard gs.  Rinoas oceans range in depth from 10 kilometers to near 6000 kilometers in some deep trenches. These depths are speculation however as the crushing pressure of the ocean has prohibited accurate measurement. The oceans carry many forms of mega-flora that float in  islands of blooms, these are constantly shifting with the everpresent ocean currents colliding and growing separating and dividing as they move about.  Typically they range from 5 to 10 kilometers square in “surface” ranging from twice to three times that in depth depending on the ocean area they are in.  These Floral islands have major ecosystems that thrive around them; and represent a gold mining of fishing available to anyone who c an brave the water around them.  Natural predetors ply these waters, from small shark like animals to whale and beyond sized mega-fauna.

    Rinoa has two habitats;
One of them being a landing pad for interstellar travelers who come for game and sport.  The mid-equatorial zone is paradiscal in warm water/weather and is famous for water sports.  T-Baum as the habitat is known hovers over top of the shallowest ocean depth (a mean 10 klicks) which is relatively devoid of life  (This shallow section of ocean is the top of a sulfer font) making it safe for humans to play without fear of being devoured by the planets many omnivourous inhabitants.
The second habitat is an oceanography research station known as Jauns-Pad.  Run by the aging doctor Jauns Heflender and his large team of researchers. Primarilly they catalogue the various species of the planet and search for supplication on local fauna. The station has been run for the last 11 years without incidents and has a small “museum” and attracts a fairly decent sized list of visitors each year interested in the planets history and biology.  The doctor himself has pioneered several of the planets unique technologies including one he is currently working on which should allow hyper-high pressure dives by live scientists, not only into the crushing depths of the ocean, but to the very core of planets.

  Rinoa Hydrosphere;
Is prone to heavy storms around the magnetic north and south poles, but rarely along its equator; ecept every 10 years when both moons eclipse the sun in tandem to some greater or lesser degree, a super storm washes the whole planet with gale force winds; massive waves and thunderstorms.  Jauns-Pad survived the last storm with minimal damage;  T-baum establishment has yet to experience a storm, however the engineers design the station to be able to endure just such a storm.  The next one is due within a year.

Rinoa space has a transfer orbital housing an emergency beacon, a local defense force of space fighters as well as a respectable trading platform/district all inside a near defunct ship of indeterminate origin. Local law is in line with NUNS though technically the planet is not aligned it pays its dues by sending a representative to the Spacial Council meetings (In Hawaiian style shirts and Bermuda shorts just to show the fuddies some style.. eh dude!)

Past Location of the Illicit underground racing ring TRAXS

SELF STARTERS (INDIE COLONY)
Type 1:  Disgruntled Colonists from the control zone departed in search for a "better" place, away from the quasi-military war-zone their deluded leaders were creating.   500 "settlers"  with moderate technology and equipment; set up on an arable planet able to supply themselves with resources and produce a small amount of `trade goods`;  1 fold capable transport vessle and 2 or 3 combat capable vehicles (not mecha); these indie colonies would be at the mercy of the pirates if they did not have so little to offer in loot.  1 or 2 settlements per planet.

Type 2:   Free wheeling core worlds settlers.  These groups come well equipped; set up shop on arable planets (with or without settlements already) or planets high in resources.  2000 "immigrants" with higher technology nd equipment. They groups easily set up their own resource chain and then tradeable goods; population blossoms quickly, checked only by the hostility of the natural environment.  2-3 fold capable vehicles and 2-3 combat mecha with trained pilots.  These colonies are targets for pirates as they tend to be resource rich (aka minerals, power supplies and manufactured goods)

Type 3:   Macronion  camp.  200-300 macronians,  with moderate technology and equipment; set up on an arable planet able to supply themselves with resources and produce a small amount of `trade goods`;  1 fold capable transport vessle and 2 or 3 combat capable vehicles (not mecha); these indie colonies would be at the mercy of the pirates if they did not have so little to offer in loot.  1 or 2 settlements per planet. Macronians are more productive in more hostile environments compared to the micronians.

MINING-RESOURCE ESTABLISHMENTS
Automated:
a:  Just that; 2-3 very large pieces of machinery (mobile) scrubbing the planets surface/atmosphere/ionosphere for resources; automated defense systems  (RARE!)
b:  Managed Machinery    4-10 moderate to large size pieces of machinery (mobile) scrubbing the planets surface/atmosphere/ionosphere for resources;  3-5 staff per machine, built in defenses. (COMMON)
c: Managed  Industrial Plant    Surface or Spacial  resource plant is established;  5-50 staff.  Manned Defense Vehicles/mecha (dependant on resource value) plus automated/built in defenses.(UNCOMMON)

non-Affiliated:  Established Mining*** community; outside of the Control zone but still with political ties to COLONY A or COLONY B.  2000-7000 workers, managers, and assorted support staff and families. Established defense force (private locally owned and operated)  have 2 fold capable vehicles/1000pop. +  5-15 mecha/military vehicles/spacecraft.   These groups are rich and prosperous. Usually large enough to garnish respect on the trade routes and only foolish pirates dare challenge them. However, although affiliated they trade freely with whom they like and brook no interstellar politics on their soil. Typically culturally xenophobic.

***Mining is interchangeable with any other resource gathering and is just an example

Affiliated: These are typically satellites of existing Businesses/Corporations and are run as such.  Populations can run from as low as a few dozen to 10000 depending on the work force needed; Military defenses are typically 100% mercenary; well equipped and well paid.  Resources are almost always energy related.  the establishments have no brook with any trade groups or either primary colony and gather resources for their Parent Company/Organization Solely.  Nice targets for Pirates at lower populations. 50% the Group also has on-site manufacturing ongoing which doubles the population.  30-70% of these populations may be transient (work for 10 year term, move on .... or die, quit etc)

LOW LEVEL CORPORATE AGRO-BIO RESOURCE  (PERMANENT MANAGEMENT AND WORKERS)
Affiliated:
These are typically satellites of existing Businesses/Corporations and are run as such.  Populations can run from as low as a few hundred to 100000 depending on the work force needed; Military defenses are typically 100% mercenary; well equipped and well paid.  Resources are always Produce related.  the establishments have no brook with any trade groups or either primary colony and gather resources for their Parent Company/Organization Solely.  Nice targets for Pirates at lower populations. 50% the Group also has on-site processing ongoing which doubles the population.  30-70% of these populations may be transient (work for 10 year term, move on .... or die, quit etc)

non-Affiliated:  Established Farming/Gathering  community; outside of the Control zone but still with political ties to COLONY A or COLONY B.  5000-12000 Residents, + 2000-3000, assorted support staff and their families. Established defence force (private locally owned and operated)  have 1 fold capable vehicles/3000pop. +  1-5 mecha/military vehicles/spacecraft.   These groups are rich and prosperous. Usually large enough to garnish respect on the trade routes and only foolish pirates bother challenge them. However, although affiliated they trade freely with whom they like and brook no interstellar politics on their soil. Typically culturally xenophobic.

BORDER/SURVEILLANCE POSTS
N.U.N.S has several "border crossing" points in Sector M15-3.   There is no actual border or inspections at this points.   Most of the sector's border's aren't under any surveillance.   These randomly placed Border Posts are suppose to keep a record of traffic in and out of the sector.   Most of these posts are considered punishment assignments by N.U.N.S soldiers.

Border/Surveillance Post M15-3-0013B/S ("Hefty")
"Hefty" typical example of Border post in Sector M15-3.   It is a decommission ship incapable of space travel locked in orbit above a lifeless heavily gravity world.   Less than twenty soldiers are ever station here.   Not much traffic goes past "Hefty" the trouble makers sent here just spend there punishment killing time till they're transferred out.

MILITARY GET-UP (THE REAL PIRATES)
Temporary - Ship Borne
1-25 pirates operating off of a single ship. A small very temporary set-up/storage facility may exist on their "base" planet. poor equipment
Temporary - Planetary Structure
10-150 pirates(plus support people 2-5% )  operating 1-3 ships off of a temporary structure that is planet bound. they call it home anyway.
Permanent - Structure
50-1000 Military Group.  several permanent structures, some local resource grazing by support staff (5-8%);  2  combat specific ships, 5+ other ships;  10-20 fighter craft. this group feeds on space piracy, well organized and productive. Often as not they 'hunt' outside of the sector. their home planet is typically hostile or otherwise hidden from searchers.  May include

Elephant Graveyard Planetoid
with its own gas expulsion light emissions.

geological processes have turned the planet's fold carbon deposits into fold quartz.  Up until now, fold quartz has been retrieved from Vajra corpses.  With the end of the Vajra war, a new source has to be found, making any fold quartz mines highly valuable throughout known space.

This migrating planetoid was shuffled out it orbit in a planetary system for unknown reasons. What is known is that the core is intact, cooling but still active. Some property of the cooling process has led to heavy luminescent off-gasing, leaving a glowing trail in space.  Several large pieces of the planetoids crust are missing, some to a deoth of 2.5 miles. Making navigation dangerous by any method other than flight.  The surface has a lee-side atmosphere of nitrogen and assorted volcanic gasses, toxic to humans without a full body suit.  The nitrogen is a product of deep patches of ice that have formed on the “front” of the roaming planetoid. Where the water is coming from that is forming (or came from at least) is still a mystery.  Preliminary geo-technilogical studies have revealed that significant artifacts are left here; and that at least 30% of the planetoid had some sort of liquid body, of which non of the original is retained.

Stellar Phenomena

Starburst Nebula

It is a major factor in the spacefold bottle neck of this region of space and accounts for a 50 light year sphere of non-fold space, plus several slivers of spacefold null space, upwards of 100 lightyears long and 20 lightyears in diameter at their thickest point.  One of these slivers effecitevely sepparates the primary human colonies of the regeon from a large quadrant** of nearby space.
Size: 35 lightyears in diameter
Mass Composition: 67% dark mater/empty space,  15%  heavy gasses / gas giants, 9% core star cluster,   8% Proto-Stars, 1% proto-black holes
Nature:   swift expansion of lighter gasses; core stars in stable; proto stars collapsing towards core.
Rotation: 1.7 degrees per light year,  18.5 degrees angle with galaxy spin.
History: Several core stars were clustered around a brown star and a dwarf red star; the brown star collapsed; and should not have gone nova, however, due to the shared mass location of the dwarf red star and drifting corona, enough mass was gathered for an extremely low powered supernova.  the explosion was enough to destroy the re-dwarf and several other small and proto stars in the region; blasting their masses out into the resulting nebula; but not strong enough to destroy the core mass of the nearby suns, the result is a cluster of grandfather stars surrounded by proto-stars and nebula, all clustered around a core of a proto-black hole, still in its micro-infancy.  It seems likely that given time that the mass as the center of the galaxy may achieve black hole status, however its evolution may take some 10000000 light years. Current speculation puts the  stellar event of nebula creation at a mere 180000 years ago. making it one of the youngest star life-cycle events withing human reach to date.
A rarity is the fact that the nebula makes for impressive viewing even with the naked eye in the night sky of the UN controlled region of space. See image >> http://masumixmrcx.deviantart.com/art/Starburst-nebula-for-MRG-259133713
