1st Lt. David "SNAKE" Plissken

David turns toward Duane and clears his throat before speaking in a deep calm tone, "Mr. Dearbone, I appreciate your concern for my well-being and all...but, a man has to choose his destiny for himself." He gave him a small smile and then turns to look at Brant he shakes his head, "Mr. Ingram, what do you have against us? Have we wronged you somehow? As I see it, we are brothers in arms...neither friend, and most certainly not enemies. So perhaps you should focus on that rather than constantly bicker about our squad..." He looks at Cmdr. Graham and back at Brant, "Perhaps our commander felt you and the rest of your group belonged in ours and I'm sure his CO would agree...and we are all misfits with randomly assorted backgrounds I'm sure, but to condemn us rather than yourself is just juvenile. It's as if you over value yourself, so please, re-evalute our current situation and think from someone elses perspective rather than your own. We are on the same boat here and no need to make things worse than they already are. It would be best if we all could just restrain ourselves for a moment during our transition..."

David couldn't believe what was coming out of his mouth, but times change, literally. Everything was different now, people, weapons, technology, probably the enemy too. But he felt a calm he hadn't felt in years, but, it could easily be taken away if he were threatened by denial from this NUNS representative, or this commander. He awaited the mans reply.

He listened as responded, "While I was in my temporary quarters...I thought things over...unraveling the knot of my life. People, places...everything will be different. There are people I wish to find and contact...just for closure sake, it's not much.  So, Mr. representative, I accept...it couldn't hurt but to ask...I gave the UN Spacy my life...everything, my blood, sweat and tears...shot, stabbed, you name it and I've done it or had it done to me...but that was over 30yrs ago according to the records. But if I have to do it allover again for this NUNS...than so be it...everything changed when we woke up on this ship...my life long goals. I was just curious about the advancements that's all. I don't remember much what happened in the medical bay but I appologize for what transpired there." He pauses, "I vaguely recall Ina going crazy, something to do with a nurse...please tell me that wasn't real...and where may she be??"

Lt. Colonel Andrew Shaffer
New UN Spacy Recruiter

Andrew offered Plissken a datapad, with the standard reenlistment package brought up.

"Ms Kahn's behavior was not a hallucination, Mister Plissken.  She assaulted a nurse and made threats against me when she came for her interview.  She has been brigged.  I won't speak for Mister Zephyr but the New United Nations will not be offering her reenlistment opportunities."

He gestured to the pad.

"If you sign on the line, you'll begin your new life as a New United Nations officer."

Lieutenant (jg) Duane "D-Bear" Dearbone
Done, just done with being insulted

Fox Seven, Fireteam Bravo

Duane looks at both Zephyr and Shaffer, then at Plissken. "Homes, I wish you the best of luck. But I'm outta here. I'm tired of cats like this a-hole shovin' all this down my throat. I ain't asked to be hauled 'to the future, ain't asked for nothin' but some respect. So, sue me, I'm bankrupt according to you. Take what you want, 'cuz all of nothin' is still nothin' drop me off or space me, what ever cuz, I'm done. Just done. Peace."

With that Duane leaves the room and heads nowhere. Well, now what? I'm stuck on this g-damn ship, might as well go see Ina. She's got more sense'n any of the others.

Duane saunters down to the brig taking his time trying to think of some way out, some way to do what he loves but not be treated like some piece of trash. It makes him think of the stories his dad told him from the 20th century, race riots, all the racial tension, people virtual slaves, with no rights. He only barely learned about the actual slavery that happened in the Old US, so he doesn't draw that parallel, even if the talk of "non-citizen" smacks of the slave-state 3/5ths a person laws. All he knows, since he awoke, he's been treated like a criminal. And Duane knows, he's not a criminal, just homeless.
I check this from work.

Ensign Brant "Raven" Ingram
The cynical bastard

Even waking up 30 years into the future, Brant was pleased to see the military jargon, the language, the script and the procedure of signing up have practically been left untouched by wearing effect of time. Brant signed the reenlistment list on the data pad the NUNS officer had offered him while listening to Plissken talking some sense into him.

"What I got against you all?" he said in a sarcastic tone to Plissken without looking at him while handing back the digital marker to Shaffer. It's all your personalities that I got most problem with: Much talk and pretty much only that. Brant chuckled inwardly while he shook his head lightly, turning to glance at the veteran soldier sitting down at the table.

"I was satisfied with my crappy position in the 4th SOAR division, thank you for asking. And no, I never looked forward working with any of you, much less being grouped with a squadron who had less level of military knowledge, combat experience and importance to the UN than my earlier pack." Brant crossed his arms over his chest as he continued. "And what if I do overvalue myself in your presence. Would you be mad with the fact turned out to be true?" he made a broad grin to it and turned to Shaffer.

"I'm done here. I'll be at my bunk awaiting further orders... Sir" Brant said and gave the man a salute before leaving the room. That is, if Shaffer had nothing more to say to Brant, or he was ordered to remain inside the meeting room. If so, he would follow orders and shut his mouth, something he gladly would do he was tired of talking anyway.

1st Lt. David "SNAKE" Plissken

He glances over a Brant, "I honestly have no reason to hold anything against you Mr. Ingram. Also, your experience and mine are ours alone, but there will always be a bigger fish, bigger than me, bigger than you...your hate, anger and antagonistic nature will be your undoing. School's out, son...grow up and show proper behavior of an officer and your etiquette should reflect this...it isn't a competition to see who's the best, it's how much you can take, not give. If that is your goal with your words...that part of me died back when the Shinigami Incident took place. I'm just here to do my part as a good soldier and a pilot...to do what I can with whatever life awaits us in this new age."

Turning back to the representative, "Sirs, I don't believe I got your names?" He looks over the pad, "Hmmmm, I have a questions before I sign...are we dead, as it being we're been classified dead...does this always mean we're 'ghosts' for some covert group?? I was hoping to join a carrier or one of the colony-class ships to safeguard and defend, and not just be made to serve the military as a 'ghost' in the shadows, or as a death dealer...I rather not kill for the mere enjoyment of it anymore. Defending, rather than offensive tactics, is more my flavor now...point being, I don't want to be dead to the universe and be alive in some...covert specops unit...saying I don't exist and what not..."

David has been testing these people, little did they know it. "Mr. Representative, can you care to explain as to why the NUNS would confiscate and claim a UN spacy ship that is not NUNS property? I thought ship salvages were...illegal, if the occupants were still alive, if they are near death, alive none the less. I also believe its illegal to  blackmail someone into joining the military so they can scheme money from them for momentary or from proprietary gain from someone who is unconcious. Technically, unless laws have changed, the ship and everything inside belong to us. Essentially, we could benefit for both of us and we lead our own PMC group via the NUNS. Its just a thought, sir."

Lt. Colonel Andrew Shaffer
New UN Spacy Recruiter

Andrew let Brant Ingram leave the office and focused his attention on David Plissken.

“Mister Plissken, you are woefully mistaken where salvage laws are concerned as it applies to military issued equipment.  You and your companions did not and do not own the ship nor the fighters.  The ship and the fighters are military vehicles that were issued to you.  The New United Nations Spacy is the immediate predecessor to the UN Spacy and we already own the Shinigami and all the fighters and military equipment aboard.  They never were your property.”

He leaned back in his seat.

“And we are not blackmailing you.  If you don’t want to reactivate your UN officer’s commission, you are free to make that choice.  The consequences of that choice is that you are not covered by our medical plan, which means you are responsible for the costs of keeping you alive, payable to the SMS.  Nothing is free, especially top grade medical care.  The offer to handle your medical bills is an incentive, not a threat to hold over you.”

He tapped the datapad.

“Your legal status is being resolved at this very moment.  You were declared MIA, assumed KIA.  Your status is being updated to alive.  You are not a ghost and will not be a ghost.  If you would like more time to consider your options, you have time available to you.  I am currently billeted in guest officer quarters and can be found in the directory under Colonel Andrew Shaffer.”

!Far From Home!

No one hinders Duane as he saunters through the corridors but he does not go unobserved or unescorted.  A pair of Marines shadow him through the ship as he makes his way to the brig, standard operating procedure since he is a guest.  When he reaches the brig, he finds Ina laying on a cot in a cell, seemingly asleep, with her hands neatly folded on her chest.  A medical cuff has been attached to her wrist, remotely monitoring her vital signs.

There are another pair of Marines in the brig, also armed and armored like his escorts, but the figure that draws his attention is the tall man standing in front of Ina Kahn’s cell, hands clasped behind his back.  It is the Captain of the SMS ship.  The Captain turned to face him as he entered.

__________

Captain Ivan Tiberius Volkov
Cold as a Siberian Winter

Ivan had tolerance for fools.  It was said that God loved children and fools and that was a good thing because he had little love for children and nothing but contempt for fools.  Unfortunately, it seemed that many of the survivors that they had rescued were fools but some of it could be forgiven and forgotten as decompression sickness but the female currently in his brig, in a self-induced unconsciousness was the worst sort of fool.

She gripped the bars after being warned not to.  The NUNS representative does not want her and I will not waste valuable commodities like air and food on her.

Thus far, Ina Kahn had shown a remarkable inability to comprehend the most basic of concepts, a dementia bordering on manic, and had already assaulted one of his nurses.  The woman would not remain on his ship and it was only his iron-clad sense of right and wrong that kept him from ordering her spaced with the rest of the garbage.

He turned when he heard the hatch open and his eyes fixed on the survivor that entered the brig, another one of the fools, only this one seemed to have suffered some sort of mental damage that rendered him unable to speak proper English.

“Mister Dearbone, yes?  If you have come to visit your comrade, she is unconscious.”

"Mr. Shaffer!!!" He yells loudly, "The NUNS claims responsibility for the Shinigami, then claim responsibility for the incident that took 30 years away from us!!!" He then smashes the pad against the wall.

David turns to the other guy and chuckles about all this, "So, how much do I owe the SMS? Zephyr is it? Maybe we can negotiate and it seems you guys like money."
