Title: attack squadron
Post by: paul the black skull on July 03, 2008, 05:02:29 PM
OCC. I don't have a separte forum for this yet but I would like to get this started I'm going to skip introductions put you right into a briefing room.   the squadron was just formed and is being given its first assalt mission.

back on the fleet the marines wait for the planetary assault to begin.  The marines newest attack squadron waits in the briefing room.

an older gentalman walks in to the briefing room Major Gary Trent the squadron CO.
"Welcome marines to the Angle sharks first mission. We got a tough nut to crack here and the generals thing the fire power of this new squadron is what they need to crack it open.  This mission is on the fast track right now because there are brother UN Marines trapped on this planet.  Our mission is to assault the planet so we can open a beach head and bring some ades to these marines.
The first stage of the assault has already been started.  A team of commandos have slipped into to the planet to aid the trapped units and to hopefully take out the planets auto defense system that is currently in enemy hands.

Even if the infiltration team has taken down the auto defenses this is not going to be an easy assault
The enemy still have a small fleet defending the planet.   So after discharging all their fighters UN Spacy capital ships and bombers will engage the zentradie warships.  Our job is to clear a path for the landing vessels if the defenses are up we blow a path thou them.  Then enter the atmosphere we are to then proceed for the A-landing site.  The A-landing site is the original UN base on the planet now in enemy hands.  Hopefully the hammer head commando team will be there starting an assault if they are we provide close air and heavy weapon support if their assault has failed we lay wast to as much as we can and head  for the B-landing site a few miles away form the A-landing site.

Enemy forces
the enemy fleet: mixed zentradie and anti UN war ships and mecha.
Auto defense space: UN Spacy Defense Satellite &  AIF-9B ghost fighters.
Auto defense planet: QVF-11 drones & missile batteries.
Enemy forces plant: former UN base.  Mixed zentradie mecha & human and miclones.
Enemy main base (ruins supervisional army base.)  Large group zentradi mecha and human Vfs.

8 VAB-2s  & 2 VB-6
VAB-2
Short range shoulder  HE 33
Short-Range main body plasma napalm 30
Min-missiles  AP
 hard points

hard points
6=6 long range plasma (extra heavy)  warheads
4=12 medium range Armor Piercing (medium) warheads

Javier snapped to attention as soon as Trent walked in. He wore his flightsuit- a colonial special aviation force model, though the fabric of the suit was not black. Instead, it bore a MARPAT camouflage pattern. He had his hair pulled back in a ponytail with a  black "dew rag" on top.

As the Major began his lecture, he returned to his seat, gazing around the room. The briefing seemed straightforward enough. Eliminate enemy air defense- both CAP's and fixed emplacements. He called up the ordinance loadout of the VAB-2's on his data terminal and nodded his head. It would be a good blend for a number of bad situations.

"Sir, do we have any data on the enemy air defense environment, particularly emplacement locations, radar sites and ELINT? If the Hammerheads are successful, what portion of the air defense network will be neutralized? Will we be given any escort for this run, or is this DIY?"

we know what positions the enemy captured of ours but as to what they brought in were not sure.  a list of defenceive postions light up the planet mostly relyed on the orbital defenses the base had VF-11 dones some ground missles sites but we think most of those were taken out. if the hammer heads accomplish there missions that data becomes useless.  Other data is weak we know they did little to improve the base they captured from us. however the ruins are anther story they could have a full corp there all we know is we have seen squads launch from that position. don't know what the ground defenses are they may have even reactivated some of the ruins own weapons in which case we could be going in against reactionary cannons.  that why we want to establish a foot hold at the old base.

"Then it seems we should get to flying, because every minute here means the commando team is waiting. I am ready to launch at any time, sir." He fought hard to keep his Spanish out of his conversation with the CO. Javier checked his sidearm once more and holstered it, without a round chambered, and on safe, then grabbed his helmet. "I assume our mecha are armed and flight ready? Let's launch. Oh, do we have any data on the radars and frequencies the enemy is using, and again, will we be flying unescorted?"

"Then if there are no more questions I want you to your machines." the major then turns to walk to the flight line

"Sir, no sir." Well, other than the one about the air support. Javier walked to the hanger and inspected his Wraith. It had a combination of greens, greys and blacks to form a wrap-around camouflage. The scheme would make him tough to spot at low altitudes, and in space, at least hopefully. This would compliment the passive stealth that the VAB-2 boasted. Slowly, he circled the jet, looking for foreign objects in the intakes, telltale leaks, and to insure that all ordinance was properly fitted and connected for launch. Seeing no gripes, he pulled on his helmet, secured his suit, and rechecked everything in his survival vest. All present and accounted for, he climbed the boarding ladder to the Wraith.

As the canopy closed, he felt the ship's cooling system kick in. Systems came to life while he engaged the power. Javier worked through the preflight checklist finding everything in the green. "Shark 01 to tower, reporting everything five by five and ready for launch."

(I hope this is not self GMing too much, just trying to move things along.)

The tower instructed him to taxi to Catapault 2 to await launch. The EM catapaults needed little more than for him to wait at a designated point, where old time steam catapaults required locking into a shuttle. As far as he knew, the last ship to use that system was the old SDF-1 Macross, and that was mainly because of the Prometheus.

"Angel 01 to tower. Reporting ok for launch, standing by."

He curled his toes into fists over and over to relax. This was his first combat hop, and a battle had been raging for some time. The enemy would welcome him with a maximum response. Feeling nervous, he called upon the creed drilled into him during basic training, which he recited to himself.

"This is my rifle. There are many like it but this one is mine. My rifle is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I master my life. My rifle, without me is useless. Without my rifle, I am useless. I must fire my rifle true. I must shoot straighter than any enemy who is trying to kill me. I must shoot him before he shoots me. I will....

My rifle and myself know that what counts in this war is not the rounds we fire, the noise of our burst, nor the smoke we make. We know that it is the hits that count. We will hit...

My rifle is human, even as I, because it is my life. Thus, I will learn it as a brother. I will learn its weakness, its strength, its parts, its accessories, its sights and its barrel. I will keep my rifle clean and ready, even as I am clean and ready. We will become part of each other. We will...

Before God I swear this creed. My rifle and myself are the defenders of my galaxy. We are the masters of our enemy. We are the saviors of my life. So be it, until victory belongs to the corps, and there is no enemy, but Peace.

"Oooh-rah!" Charged by his creed, he watched the catapault officer for the final salute and the sudden acceleration and dissapearance of the deck. He was ready to kill.

the bombers launch out into the blackness of space.  the other squadrons and captial ships are getting into formation.  a head of them is the blue planet.  just like the files had said mostly ocean with a few land masses mostly small islands a marines play ground.

the enemy veseles were froming line of battle as well.  zentradie mechs and captured Variable fighters fromed the enemy fleets defence line.  the plants auto defences sat behind the enemy fleet showing no sighn of life they could still be active waiting for fighters to come with in rang.

the squadrons 2 VB-6s pulled out of the hanger  forming behind the VAB-2 WRAITH bombers. the battle begins ships fire heavy missiles and use there heavy batteries UN-spacy fighters charge the enemy fleet.   the marines are given there que to attack the planet.

the stealthy wraith lead the attack to probe the defenses.

With clearance to launch, he applied full afterburner on the catapult, then doublechecked his flaps. He gave the "shooter" a nod, who replied with a crisp salute, ejecting him off the ship at top speed. Even if flaps meant nothing in space, protocol dictated all launch procedures be conducted in any environment. This prevented some vac-head from launching off a sea-based carrier with no flaps, and landing in the drink. As he pulled away, and formed up with the squadron, he retracted his gear and flaps. Soon, he would be flying in a proper atmosphere, where such things would again matter.

"So this is what War looks like," Javy thought to himself as he clicked his radar to standby mode, powered, but not transmitting. This way, he hoped to avoid drawing the notice of enemy air defence. He monitored his Radar Warning Receiver (RWR) for any sign and direction of the defence network or curious enemy fighters. He throttled back to cruising speed, knowing that greater speeds only served to increase his visibility to radar.

"Shark 01 to Shark Lead, request that King Monster flight follow Wraith flight at distance 1-2-0 klicks, over?" That way, the big bad Koenigs, which were about as radar elusive as a cement truck would not betray the location of the stealthy VAB-2's. His plan called for the Wraiths to probe and suppress defences, while the big gun trucks could throttle up for heavy support if needed, or deliver the killing blow seconds later. Given the speeds of variable craft, even a KM could close the distance of 120 KM in a matter of seconds. Hopefully, they would not be needed to bail out the lighter (though still absurdly well armed) Wraiths, nor would their ordinance be needed to finish the job.

To establish situational awareness, Javier uploaded a datalink from an AWACS aircraft. AWACS provided a better view in all directions of the battle than his plane alone could. The data would allow him to direct missiles at any target without lighting his own beacon-like radar to announce his presence. With the bombardment of capships and fighters, he hoped the path would be cleared to the target. Somehow, he suspected he would not be nearly that lucky. Using the AWACS data, he sought large mass shadows, such as capships, asteroids, landing craft, etc. to block enemy radar and screen his approach.

Javier contemplated the irony of his callsign, given to him by a german-speaking cadet on the Biggin-15. Walfisch meant "whale" and was both a reference to the "big slow" bombers he favoured and an ironic taunt of his small stature. Someone told him some famous anime torreo used the same callsign. He wondered who it could be as he had never seen a bullfighting cartoon, other than Speedy Gonzalez.

He studied his RWR data, looking for any omni-directional radars (like a Quel or AWACS jet), assigning it a red priority to be splashed. He looked for other radar frequencies suggesting advanced valkyries, Quaedlunns, Glaugs or stationary defence units especially with long range missiles or incoming long range missiles homing with radar, assigning them orange priority. Older Valkyries, up to VF-11's, Gnerls and other lesser threats got yellow priority. He still prayed for a cakewalk, though expectation told him that it would never come to pass. He recited a "Hail Mary," just to ensure all his bases were covered as he triplechecked that his plane was as stealthy as possible.

Actions:
1. Radar to standby
2. establish AWACS datalink
3. Engage RWR
4. Use ECM skill, AWACS and RWR data and Intel skills to classify targets based on radar emissions
5. ingress at cruising speed, utilizing any large masses (such as capships, asteroids, etc as cover during approach)
6. Ensure minimum visibility by ceasing emissions, maximum evasive flight profile and a brief "Hail Mary."

Automatics:
Tilt Dodge, parry with PPB and roll with punch if struck

Fighter/Jet mode, radar to standby, speed to cruising

their was no AWACS aircraft up but the capital ships fed radar information to the attacking fighters. Once in the atmosphere the Kongs would supply radar data. There bulk not making them easy to hide.
Ahead of them stood the satellite defenses grid  as they neared the satellites began to activate there sensors trying to lock on to the vast number of signals that had appeared in there zone the targets were so many and just on the edge of their rang their AI were confused and did not fire.  The ghost fighters start to come to life there sensors eyes glowing to life and their engines warming up.  The defenses system seemed ready to make this a hard fight but as even the monsters came into rang there was no shooting  the defenses system was active but none of the weapons were firing.

The major comes over  an encrypted Laser com  ?The system seemed to be in stand by mode Looks like the hammer heads unlocked the door.?

?then lets kick it in? one of the other pilots yells  One of the wraith breaks formation and shoots a head of the group.   The call sign of the pilot is pineapple

?Pineapple don't break formation.? The major yells at him.
As he dose so New contacts appear on the screen   a squadrons of fighter pods supported by a recon pod and an anti UN  Annabella Lasiodora http://unsd.macrossroleplay.org/annabella_lasiodora.html (http://unsd.macrossroleplay.org/annabella_lasiodora.html)

The quel had to be the lynchpin of the defense on the planet. With their orbital defense network down, the mecha would serve as the eyes and ears of the defense, directing traffic, and potentially detecting the strike. This was why Walfisch designated it to be a priority target. Though he yearned to close with the mecha and play tag, he realized it would be heavily escorted. "Best to be a Marine about this."

The Corps loved to strike at range, from the darkness, and with a maximum of cover. He armed four of his long range, extra-heavy plasma warheads, setting them to  follow the cap-ship's radar return for the Quel, before switching to active radar in the final stage, thus giving the Quel the least amount of warning that it had been shot. Hopefully, it wouldn't be able to dodge or counterfire until the missiles were crashing into its side.

This kid Pineapple was probably on the team longer than Javy. With a name like that, and his attitude, he would be gone soon. It was a foregone conclusion. Javy swore to buy him a pineapple salad after the mission. "Que pendejo tonto.."

The defenses worried him. At any moment, they could light them up. Still, with passing monsters presenting a choice shot, the guns remained silent. Javier wanted to radio the commandos for confirmation, before laying into the satellites with the Wrath of God, but they would be operating on radio silence. The guns were still, and there would be many many live targets to demand every bit of ordinance aboard the Wraith.

...such as that "Anna." It lacked the sensors of the Quel, but made up for it in a big way with lots of medium to heavy missiles, and some guns that could carve a landing boat in half, killing every devildog on board. It had to be the next mecha to die. Javier selected his armour piercing MRM's and lobbed the lot of them at the Anna. He set the missiles much the same as the first volley, semi-active ingress, then active radar terminal homing.

The Ghosts were a bit of a problem, given that they could haul a lot of fireworks and would be a pain in the ass for a dropship to dodge. Hell, the escort pilots would have their hands full with them anyway. He targeted one, and fired a four-missile volley of high explosive short range missiles (set for IR homing) and repeated the task with a second. "GET SOME!" he roared, if only to himself.

Actions:
1. four LRM's at quel
2. 12 MRM's at Anna
3. four SRM's (HE) at first ghost (if in range)
4. Repeat three
Actions five and six for dodges.

Automatic:
Tilt Dodge, parry with PPB, roll with punch, augment any dodges of missile attacks with flare/chaff as appropriate by RWR

as the attack begins javier own long range missile attack is joined by the missiles of other Wraith. the recon pod and two of its escort try to shoot down the missiles but several make it thou and the recon pod is engulfed in a cloud of plasma nothing remains once it dissipates.  the fighter pods continue their attack

the ANNABELLA LASIODORA launches volleys of missiles to start its attack 3 long rang missiles streak out but are intercepted by one of the other wraith using its short range missiles.  a volley of medium range missiles are fire at the same time Javier fires his the missiles pass each other in flight
Javier missiles hit there target like a hammer blow the annabella is engulfed in a fire ball and secondary explosions the pieces that remain then fall into the gravity well of the planet and begin to burn in re entry.
however the annabella's missiles hit there traget as well the waith that had broken rank is destoryed in a fire ball.

while the VAB-2 start the attack the VB-6 tansfrom then join the rest of the squadron and open fire the combined fire powers taking out fighter pods and a number of the auto defenses.   the defenses system dose not return fire.  half the squadron of fighter pods remain.

Pineapple did not survive, but that was of little surprise to Javier. Taking down a Quel and an Anna would, on any other day, be considered a fine day's work. Today, plenty of tasks remained unfinished. He gently banked towards the Gnerls and targeted one, firing a volley of two of his plasma SRM's at the "viper." Expecting a counterattack, he quickly dodged, only to fire another two plasma SRM's at a second viper, then repeats the dodge.

Keeping a good thing going, he locked on two more of the heat-seeking plasma SRM's lobbing them at a third Gnerl. Picking them off one by one took a little time, but was the best way to economize missiles for the gauntlet he would have to fly, and for the strike later. He dodged again, expecting more trouble, but kept his eye on the RWR for radar missile warnings, and the presence of other, more lethal mecha and those with better sensors. He still wasn't sure if he had a primary, as the mission thus far seemed to entail hit everything that moves. Given the antiquity of the old Zentraedi designs, it could turn into a massacre in a matter of moments. "Better them than me. KILL!" He shouted in his cockpit, knowing that the Zentraedi would think the same about him, especially in the face of a bloodbath.

1. Fire two plasma SRM's (IR homing) at a Gnerl
2. Dodge (with a flare/chaff if needed- indicated by the RWR)
3. Fire two plasma SRM's (IR homing) at a  second Gnerl
4. Dodge (with a flare/chaff if needed- indicated by the RWR)
5. Fire two plasma SRM's (IR homing) at a  third Gnerl or at one of the first two, if they survive
6. Dodge (with a flare/chaff if needed- indicated by the RWR)

Automatics:
tilt dodge ALL attacks, Parry with PPB, roll with punch if struck, augment tilt dodges with flare/chaff as appropriate, monitor instruments  (RWR and radar datalink with capships) for more lethal targets and improved radar emissions

the dog fight begins Javier first missile hit damageing it the fighter pod returns fire its shots clip the waith wing.  despit that minor victory the damaged fighter pod is easy pickings for anther waiths min misslie rotary launcher.  despite the minor damage Javier locks on to a new target.  these 2 missiles hit the pod head on the blast breaks the pod and the pilot is thrown free from his craft.  Javier is then forced to manuver away to aviod a volly of enemy missiles.  the fighter pod pulls hard right and dodges the 2 missiles of javier's last attak.

a group of VA-14 break from the main fleet engagment they are heading for the marine units.
"marines those 14s are not our fighters." your tatical display marks them as hostils.  a flight of vf-19s comes from the fleet engagement givign chase to the 14s.
the -14s launch 10 volly of medium rang missiles when in range  each volly has 4 missiles they are aim at different points of the formation.

Javier you & waiths 1, 5, &7  intersept those missiles the monsters will re turn fire on that squadron. the rest of the squad push thou.

"Get some!" roared Walfisch in delight. The marine was made to kill, and so far, he had done his job. The gnerls were slipperydicks, but would fall in turn. His jet buffeted from the strikes, but the Wraith was a sturdy jet. He smiled and prepared to smoke the rest of the gnerls. That was when some VA-14's had other ideas. "Que putos, voy a mantarse!"

He wanted the Vampires- badly...  But orders were orders, and came from apparently a good boss. He would follow them, for now. "Aye aye sir, intercepting missiles!" To inspire him further, he activated his flight media player. Studies showed that pilots (and zentraedi) love music. Selecting " in cockpit" mode, it would cut out when he received a transmission. He quickly selected Brujeria's "Matando Gueros." He grit his teeth and targeted a volley with two of his plasma SRMs, then repeated two times over. The rest of the time, he concerned himself with evading enemy fire, hoping that the FAGs (Fighter Attack Guys) in the VF-19's would take care of some big threats, but save at least a few of the Vamps for him.

Actions:
1. Activate media player
2-4. Fire two plasma SRM's at missile volleys
5 & 6. Reserved for dodges as needed, augmented by two flares/chaffs as indicated by RWR

Automatic:
tilt dodges augmented by one flare/chaff as indicated by RWR, parry with PPB, and roll with punch when struck

the enmey missiles are intersepted  the 14s try to retaliate with there own short range misisles.  two volleys come for the wraith but are dodge rather skillfully.
the monsters hace repostioned them selfs there weapons now pointing at the 14s.  and the few waith between them.
a warning comes over the radio "break right incoming fire." when the path start to clear the monsters let lose a volly of fire from there heavy armiment a few fv-14 get away but most are caught by the monsters attack  those that servive are then caught by UN VF-19s.

their are still a few fighter pods surviing do there best to keep the bombers from entering the atmosphere clear what you can and start entry prosiger.

at this point the planets auto defences activate.  however they target what non un craft they can find they start to fire.

"Just not good enough," grinned Javier as the Monsters mowed down VA-14's like a Snapper on a summer lawn. Javy juked as a few missiles came his way. The close quarter duels were what he craved most, though the monsters left little additional opportunity for that to happen. The reactivation of the defense network rattled him as they fired their first shots. Equipment like that could be a nightmare. Following the shots told a different story. A few aggressive Marines on the ground addressed the problem, turning it into a solution. Oooh-Rah.

Javy began to line up for re-entry. That was the worst part of any landing because pilots had to fly close to the profile, or else they would burn up. He selected the fastest reentry profile possible to get into thicker air, and lower speeds. As he began his dive, he targeted two gnerls and fired a trio of plasma missiles at them. He watched the missile corkscrews and then fired at a third gnerl, hoping for the best. He really had no clue what the planet would be like before, or the topography of the target area. Hopefully, once secure, it would offer some R&R opportunities, if only a working head and a shower, with some hot chow at the airfield/beach head. He chided himself for thinking ahead and continued his drop into the atmosphere, alert with the knowledge he would need to switch from the capships radar to a Monster's- soon.

Actions:
1. Begin re-entry- high angle of attack
2. Fire Three plasma SRM's at a gnerl (heatseekers)
3. Dodge if needed (augment with one flare or chaff as needed by RWR)
4. Fire three plasma srm's at a gnerl
5. Dodge (if no dodge needed, switch to Monster radar datalink from carrier vessel's)
6. Fire three plasma srm's at a gnerl

Automatics:
Tilt dodge, parry with ppb any attack undodged, roll with punch if struck, deploy 1 flare/chaff for all dodges if missiles used to attack as appropriate by RWR

the bombers took out the last of the fighter pods then entered the atmosphere.  the fire of reentry start to lick the outside of the bombers then they entered the worst moment of any combat drop they could not change their patch and then the heat shields covered the cokpits protecting the pilot from the heat but blinded them to the out side.

this moment of vulnerability was bad but it did ended and the squadron emegered un harmed.  as the heat shields were retracted the squadron was now surouned by open sky and clouds below them the waters of an alien ocean.
the monsters started giving orders. " lets get our bearing crew navigation and tatical radar is on.  qroudiantes to the base are in your computers I try to make contact with the hammer heads."

the radar displays give a siting of the area a red mark points out were the base is then other contacts appear to the east of your location and the base its seems to be an air battle VF-11s Vs battle pods.  above the base you can detect only a few contacts in the air.  the ground radars can not get a readying on the condition on the ground of the base.

"Confirm coordinates and ingressing for strike. Walfisch over..." Javier drove down to the deck and throttled back up to cruising speed. At an altitude of 200 feet, he sought to penetrate the air defence network that was already seriously impaired. The regults did not bother him much. They presented a threat only in great number, though a missile pod could create havoc if unchecked. He consulted his IRST (infrared search and track- a long range TV camera) to see if any pods sported missile launchers and targeted them first. Javy attempted to use his IFF (identification friend/foe) to label the airborne bogies as bandits or friendlies before he began to fire on them. The last thing the marines ever needed was a friendly fire accident.

Actions:
1. Fire one plasma LRM at regult (priority to artillery unit)
2. Dodge
3.  Fire one plasma LRM at regult (priority to artillery unit)
4. Dodge
5. Fire two plasma SRM's LRM at regult (priority to artillery unit)
6. Identify air units with IFF

Automatic:
Tilt dodge, parry with PPB, roll with punch if struck, modify all dodges with 1 flare or chaff as indicated by RWR

occ. last post their was supose to be nothing in range to attack.
IG.
the major starts to transmits over the radio  looking for the hammer heads

"hammer heads back up has arrived. I got a squadron of bomber ready to rain down hell give us the target.
a new voice comes on "Hammer Heads to bombers we got a swarm of hostiles coming in form the bay lay your fire there.  Hammer Heads pull back to defensive positions and pick off what the bombers scatter."

on the squadrons channel the major comes on wraith start an attack run on he base their should be plenty of targets.  careful for friendly Vfs and if you can drops your bombs on those pods.

the wraith break away from the monsters heading for the harbor. When in rang the other bombers start to open fire and continue in on the pod releasing their bombs as they get close.

(Hmm, I can see the SRM's not having the legs, but if I can detect them on radar, with a 200 mi range, I would expect LRM's with a 1000 mile range could reach out and touch them. Anyhow, I assume I am in range now? Could you please give ranges to target and describe the numbers, positions and types I'm up against? I assume also that if I was not in LRM range last round, that I am not in SRM range this time?)

Javier knew the land was littered with friendlies and activated his IFF, painting all friendlies as blue, identified bandits as red, and unknowns yellow. Again, he prioritized heavy artillery regults, light artillery units and the scout units as first to die. He still sported two LRM's and knew they would have the legs to hit anything. Javy dropped to 100 feet off the deck, trying to hide from enemy radars using the curve of the planet to do so. The green and grey Wraith kicked up a hell of a rooster tail as he remained at cruising speed. "Any faster and I could part the red sea," he mused. His finger squeezed the trigger twice, having selected his last two Fox Threes (LRM's) and squeezes one off, giving a scout Regult priority, then selects a long range missile pod to die, watching the bright flash of the rocket motor reflect off the water. "Missiles away, winchester (out) on long range armaments. Closing on beach head to provide close air support. Walfisch to Hammerheads, request laser target designation on priority targets. Keep your heads down and enjoy the fireworks, over?" He then checked his RWR and ECM gear to track enemy communications frequencies and radar bands. He had a little surprised planned, once the bad guys knew that Death was on his way to visit.

Actions:

1. Sensors check with IFF to designate enemy pods from friendly Valkyries and unidentifieds
2. Dodge

(occ.
sorry for the long delay my last post didn't seem to take.

the targets became good targets for short range weapons.  I'll yet the long range attack work.  how ever in the hammer head topic I allready had the rest of the squadron make an attack run flying over the battle pods fireing close in weapons and droping bombs. in the last post  so we can either catch you up on this topic or claim you already dropped the bombs and I can trasfer you over to there topic.)

(I'd rather play it out. If we can do it quickly, let's. I'll bomb this attack- you let me know what happened to the last one, then we'll go from there.)

Javier smiled at the death he inflicted. He was a marine, and marines killed. It worked just like that. Having identified the frequency patterns used by the Regults on the beach, he began his jamming, not using white noise, but something far more ominous, and colourful. He engaged his mediaplayer to his transmitter and began to play "When the Man Comes Around" by Johnny Cash.

"And I heard, as it were, the noise of thunder: One of the four beasts saying: 'Come and see.' And I saw. And behold, a white horse."

It was indeed Alpha and Omega's Kingdom Come.

Walfish banked over the beach, prioritizing targets-  bunches of troops, quaedlunns, artilary units, glaugs, gnerls, scout regults, and finally gers and infantry regults- in that order. He climbed to angels 5 (5,000 feet) to avoid their guns and selected his plasma  mini missiles, assigning five to each target- overkill was good measure when you could get away with it. Mindful of counterattacks, he juked and dodged, still expecting some ground fire

1. Jam enemy radios with "When the Man Comes Around"
2. Fire volley of 5 plasma MM's at targets as prioritized
3. Dodge (1 flare/chaff as indicated by RWR)
4. Repeat 2
5. Dodge (1 flare/chaff as indicated by RWR)
6 Repeat 2

Automatics:
Tilt dodge, parry with PPB, roll with punch if struck, deploy 1 flare/chaff as indicated by RWR to modify tilt dodges

the long rang missiles hit several targets in the mass of battle pods.  Javiers attack is combined with the rest of the squadrons weapons to leave a path of distuction thou the enemy ranks.   as Javier starts his attempt at jamming the drop pods working as command hobs  do the simple countermeasure to the jamming the waith is putting out and switch to a anther channel.   the jamming transmission ruins the waith passive stealth characteristic the surviving battle pods lock onto Javier bomber.  Javier manuvering keeps some of the fire off but several shots still hit.  two more pods fall to Javiers minimissile

(You have no idea how jamming works or the means of tracking a radio signal... Just how many things are we shooting at, or is this GTA, and the more cops we shoot, the more get spawned to shoot us? Just exactly WHAT is shooting at us so that I might prioritize my targets a little bit. What kind of missiles are they shooting? I know you hate questions, but please, just a little bit of description would go a long way.)

Javier shut off the radio jamming, despite a trunking monitoring and projection system to follow their communications and wondered just how pods in the midst of battle could triangulate his position in the heat of battle and open fire so effectively. He muttered about the cruelty of gods and disengaged his radio jamming, spiraling down at top speed by 500 feet feet and changed headings somewhat to not be where the enemy expected hi,. He switched to gerwalk mode and targeted another group of pods with his missiles, discharging a cloud of five. Spotting a regult, he opened fire with a cloud of 5 plasma MM's, and began to repeat the action over and over, dodging when needed.

1. Descend while converting to gerwalk
2. Fire volley of 5 plasma MM's at targets as prioritized
3. Dodge (1 flare/chaff as indicated by RWR)
4. Repeat 2
5. Dodge (1 flare/chaff as indicated by RWR)
6 Repeat 2

He then checked his RWR and ECM gear to track enemy communications frequencies and radar bands.
(You have no idea how jamming works or the means of tracking a radio signal via trunking scanner... He's tracking them should they switch using his communications gear and network., having used an attack to do so. Oh well, I'll live with the ruling. How could three units stop in the middle of combad, coordinate a triangulation of his radio signal, relay it to other units and attack? I'll live with that too. What I really want to know is just how many things are we shooting at, or is this GTA, and the more cops we shoot, the more get spawned to shoot us? Just exactly WHAT is shooting at us so that I might prioritize my targets a little bit. What kind of missiles are they shooting? I'm moving the storry forward both game link togeather in  M-15 operation.

in respounce to your OCC comments.
let me get it strit your continuously monitoring their radio traffic tracking all possible channels. changing your jamming to that frequency while firing missiles and dodging and that first part only counts as one actions.  oh and the enemy a trained zentadie army can't have any from of electronic counter measers. also these guys have been expose to culture so a song is just a song.

Look at the stats for the fighter you do not have any jamming device no electronics warfare equipment.  most you could do is hold down the talk button on your radio.  if that doesn't work for you then the enemy have electronic counter measures. I really don't care how you claim its done in real life this is a game world were a device has to say radio jammer  other wise we are getting into metta gaming and muddying the waters.  you want jamming then we have to put jamming pods onto your fighter cause its not an electronic warfare plane.

as for the enemy they were just suppose to be a massive formation that the players got to do some attack runs on. Then they run away I was trying to do fog of war. I didn't care about numbers cause I would allso have to deal with everything the NPC killed then.

So, since this was all OOC, what do I do now, join the main Hammerheads thread, or will you be adding more in-game here?

UN spacy drop ships escorted by marine VFs start to desend  on the now re captured base.  following them down is a Guantanamo Class Stealth Carrier.  the mariens recognize it as the ship that brought them to the fight.  it  lands gently on the surface of the ocean.  large bay doors open and the "Minotaur" the marien's Daedalus class Assault Landing Vessel emerges.   the rest of the hammer heads MEU have arrived to help secure the base.

hammer heads cammando unit and razor back attack squadron,
are both called to the minoraur
in a briefing room on board the ship the colonel and Major Gary Trent stand in front of their two squadrons.  the colonel starts the briefing "well done marines we opened the beached head,  re took this base and we control the planets defense that's a good days work. Fresh units have now been landed to join the fight and take part in the next stage of the mission to take this planet back.  we have also re established communication with out fleet in orbit. once the planets defenses came under our control the zentradi fleet broke off engagement with spacey ship. the adimral would now like to have a few worlds with you."

the walls video screen activates to show a beard man in a Un spacy admirals uniform.
"You marines did your duty your hard work is over with now. UN Spacy will be lunching attacks on the zentardi at the ruins   with our warships and VFs.  we may need you marines with some of the mop up but that should be it.  so you guys can sit back now and let the fleet handle the rest of the operation. now I have the rest of the invasion to deal with."  the screen then goes black

"well you heard the Admiral they think they got this messed cleaned up.  I'm not sure of that but we do have some time so I want our units to get some rest in.  the fresh marine units will be taking up the guard duties.  you are all dismissed.

as the briefing ends the marines are given time to get food and some rest.

"Oooh-rah!" barked Javier with bravado with the Admiral's praise and dismissal. He hobnobbed with a few of his squadmates, but elected to keep a low profile for the most part. After a shower, he dressed in a clean flight suit, again with MARPAT cammo and strapped on his sidearm, as it was still a war zone. What appealed to him most now was plenty of glasses of water, and some hot chow, a luxury in the field, but commonplace aboard ship.

He headed directly to the officer's wardroom and selected a slider, with chips, salad and a litre bottle of water. He gave his chips a little more in the way of salt to make up for what he lost during the battle and popped his neck, before crossing himself and digging into his meal ravenously. It was a good day afterall.

(Hammerheads, would you care to join this Razorback/Angel Shark for chow?)
