Romane looked interogated at the old man:

"It's look this situation this situation reminds you a similar case... Something happened to someone you know?"

(later in the conversation)

"You told us your wanted fuel... This is for your lanterns? Can you show us how they work? Because... maybe we can help you in ways you never thinked..."

"No, It was more like a change in personality, more aggressive, self-important, became physically stronger and glow in the dark eyes. Have you heard, seen or know of anything like this?" Neil said to the Elder.

The results from her scan was a little different than what she had been expecting, a low, thoughtful 'Hmmm" still sounded within the battroid's cockpit as Danielle tried to consider the condition of the third figure above them. Disappointment filled her as she realized she that taking any longer might begin to arouse suspicions among the assembled group, Danelle exited the machine just as Neil responded to the elder, feeling a slight pang of anger towards her superior as she considered how to get the conversation back on course.

"Actually sir, that does sound about right." Danielle spoke from the shoulder of the RVF's frame, carefully making her way down it's arm as she began to address the elder, "Could you tell us if there's anything else we should be looking for? Uncontrollable shaking, lips or eyes changing colour? Anything like that?"

As she reached her trio of comrades, Danielle switched to English for a moment, a quick muttered reminder to them as she kept her eyes on the elder in wait for his answer (and to see if there were any signs of recognition or understanding of what she had said), hoping that the words would remind them all that they were currently in a medieval society, "Let's keep the high medical terms to a minimum, shall we?"
I think you've got about ten seconds to say "Welcome, Earth woman, and help yourself to our finest space boys."

The old man ignores Frayzer.  His keen eyes are focused on Neil, waiting expectantly for an answer.

"No, It was more like a change in personality, more aggressive, self-important, became physically stronger and glow in the dark eyes. Have you heard, seen or know of anything like this?"

The old man closes his eyes as he adopts the classic thinking man pose.  "Glowing eyes... glowing eyes..."

He shakes his head twice, before opening his eyes.  His face is sad.  "Yes... your friend is lost to you.  The gods have taken his body as their own.  Do not worry, my little friend, as his soul is being well cared for by the gods."

"Could you tell us if there's anything else we should be looking for? Uncontrollable shaking, lips or eyes changing colour? Anything like that?"

The old man stares at Jacobson, like she's talking a foreign language, even though it's in the same Zentraadi that he's using.

He blinks once or twice when she speaks English, and then sits up sharply.

"That's right.  Your friend Kawalski said that you have great healing powers.  Come, come."

He stands up, and waves at the four to follow him.

He leads them up to the second floor, and into what looks like a bedroom.  There are two rotund maids, that the old man shoos away with flicks of his wrist.

On the bed is a young man.  Ordinarily his strong, muscled features, and deep tan would imply that he is a worker in the fields, but he is downright pale with sickness.  On top of that, he is shivering incontrollably, despite being asleep or unconscious.

The old man rests one hand on the boy's brow paternally, before looking at SG-1 with pleading eyes.

"He claimed that he can't remember how he got here with us... yet he's been part of this village for the last 3 or 4 years.  He also complained of horrible visions... of nightmares... before collapsing.  He's been in this deep fever for the past day... or more.

Do you have healing powers to break his fever?  Return him to norm?"

"Well, i could try." Said Romane.

She unpacked her medical equipment and scanned the Macron-sised humanoid with her medical sensors, listen to his hartbeat and
take his temperature. It was stange to do this to a giant, but with the help of the VF,it was fesible.

"What do you mean the Gods have taken his body?" Neil says with a deadpan yet slightly shocked look to his face.

"Well, I could try."

The old man nods wisely, and takes a step or two backwards, making room for 1st Lieutenant Frayzer's Battroid.

Her checks tell her that he is indeed in a deep fever: 39.5?.  His heartbeat is, for the large part, slow and stable, but every minute or two, there's an irregular beat.  She can't discern anything pathologically wrong with him, but she does spot two slit like wounds on the back of the neck.  One looks like it's 5 to 10 years ago, and long since healed, and the other one looks like it's only a couple of days old.

While Frayzer is checking the sick man, Colonel Neil asks, "What do you mean the Gods have taken his body?"

"Oh!"  The old man cries in genuine surprise.  "You don't know?"

Neil shakes his head to indicate 'no'.

"Well, every so often, one of the gods, escorted by his powerful Jaffa Warriors, comes through the Chappa'ai, and selects the most handsome male, or the most beautiful female, to become the god's body.  The person's soul is taken to Aaru by Osiris, himself, skipping Duat completely!"

The old man takes note of SG-1's baffled expressions.  He adds, "yes, yes, it's a very lucky fate.  You're friend is indeed blessed."

Captain Cartie leans a bit closer to Niel, and whispers, "I'm as lost as you look, sir."

Romane took a blood sample and put-it to analysis to see the white cells status and their capabilities to regular diseases, and took a thermal scan of his vertebral column and his brain to see if there was trace of Goa'Uld. The young medic remembered that Kowalsky had a similar mark on his neck. But for the first treatment, she administer some antipyretic (High-tech version of aspirin) and monitor his vital sign. She also get a thermal scan of the heart and a spiritia check with her VF. All the time she was doing her job, she humm calm songs. Finally, she Radio to her team leader:

"Sir, if the Goa-Uld are the gods and they take control of a body, replacing the body's own mind, this men may have been the precedent vessel of the snake who are in's kowalsky's head..."

"A Spy. Burried but ready to pounce." Added Thealck

Danielle kept her expression a little more guarded than her colleges, a hint of excitement boiling within at the sound of ancient Egyptian mythological aspects being spoken a galaxy away from their 'origin', but it was the tone it was being spoken in that kept her on her guard. The way this elder spoke, it was as though this community worshiped and praised the Goa'Uld and their Jaffa subordinates, a complete opposite to the report given by Kawalsky where he said they lived in fear of the very same ideas. The facts seemed to line up between the two accounts but Danielle was beginning to feel a little nervous about being surrounded by all the villagers right now.

"These people who are, 'Blessed', as you have said," she spoke to the Elder, "Do they remain within the village or are they taken back through the Chappa'ai when the gods leave?"

Quietly to Cartie neil says, "Lost? I'm in the wrong bloody city," thinking for moments the only words that he could manage to form were, "Lamps... How do you power your lamps..."

After stepping out of her VF, Romane tries to take a blood sample.  The micron sized needle works, but she has trouble finding a vein.  Even then, the macron-sized cells in the patient's blood keep jamming up the needle.

The thermal scan shows nothing of use other than his head has a slightly higher temperature than his body - a fever, in other words.

The only way to give the aspirin is by a glass of water.  Romane tells one of the maids to bring a cup of water as she gets back into her VF.  She mixes the medicine into it.

As she puts the cup to the lips of the patient, the two maids take the cup away from her VF's hands.  They both are saying "no", "he'll choke", and make big Xs with their arms.

Frayzer suddenly realizes that they're right, and she was about to make a mistake that could've killed the patient (choking to death and/or drowning from fluid in the lungs.)

All Frazyer can do is to tell the two maids to make the man drink the medicine when he wakes up.

"These people who are, 'Blessed', as you have said... Do they remain within the village or are they taken back through the Chappa'ai when the gods leave?"

The Village Elder, who had been watching Frayzer's battroid both semi-bemused and with deep concern, looks at Jacobson's VF's sensor eye keenly.

"Why would the gods stay here in our hovel, when they can return to their chariot in the sky by the Chappa'ai?"

"Lost? I'm in the wrong bloody city,"

Captain Cartie nods in agreement.

"Lamps... How do you power your lamps..." says Colonel Neil.

*To which, Frayzer (I presume Thealk is still remaining hidden from the villagers?) adds, "that's right!  You told us you wanted fuel... This is for your lamps?  Can you show us how they work?  Because... maybe we can help you in ways you never thought..."

"Yes, yes" the Village Elder says.  He heads for the stairs down, pauses, and beckons the others to follow, "come, come.  It's not far, now."

The village elder leads them to the outskirts of the village.  He opens the door to a small (macron scale) sized shed next to a rather large barn.  Inside is the rusting remains of a Rigaado battle pod.  The armour, armaments and legs have been stripped away, and there is only the frame, twin engine pods and sensor eye.  The sensor eye has been switched around so that the screen is visible from the outside and a control pannel has been jury-rigged underneath.  The pilot's seat has been replaced by a large fuel drum or fuel cartridge.

The system is off, and it's been off for enough time that the metal is as cool as the night air - significantly cooler than the mid-afternoon warmth that the group is basking in, outside the shed.

The Village Elder shakes his head.  "We ran out of reactorant a couple of seasons ago.  Alas, we have not been able to meet the quota of naqahdah from the mines that Muh-at set for us for the last 5 or 6 years... and we don't have anything else that the goddess needs... so she hasn't graced us with any reactorant in tribute-trade since then."

The old man looks with pleading eyes at Neil's battroid's head sensor, "please, sir, will you not accept our offerings of food stuffs and mead in exchange for reactorant?"

Thealck sert his radio to Colonel Neil:

"Sir, I may be able to dismantle the Type 3 power generator from this wreakage and install it to a Paddlewheel or something like that and it could generate enouph power to light these lamp... If the internal capacitor of this pod is still fonctional, we can use it as a battery, and a standart level 1 solar captor can be used as a backup energy source... That would create a permanent self-functioning source of electricity."

"Nah, qah-dah you said?" Danielle repeated carefully as she controlled her VF into a pensive gesture, "What is this exactly? Or rather, what do you use it for? Would you have any around or is the mine nearby?"

Her questions were a distraction of sorts for everyone involved as quite plainly she first wanted to get off of the subject of the 'gods' themselves for now, Danielle also believing that her keeping the elder occupied on a tangent in the conversation would also her colleagues to discuss the current plan among themselves. Personally she was hoping they could come to a decision sooner than later, for with each new piece of information the elder divulged about this community the further she wanted to be from it to have a chance to properly absorb and conclude what exactly was happening here.

Though another question needed to be asked to put her at ease even in that regard. "I'm also curious about this tribute you've mentioned, how often does it occur, once per season or so? And does Muh-at come personally to conduct this trade?"

Niel grunts in response to Thealk.

"Nah, qah-dah you said?  What is this exactly? Or rather, what do you use it for? "

The Village Elder simply shrugs.  "Muh-at uses it for her own godly purposes."

"Would you have any around or is the mine nearby?"

The old man thinks hard for a moment.  "Yes, I believe we still have a few pieces in the coffer.  I'll fetch them for you."

He starts to head back toward the village center.

"I'm also curious about this tribute you've mentioned, how often does it occur, once per season or so? And does Muh-at come personally to conduct this trade?"

The Village Elder stops and turns.  Smiling, he adds, "so many questions, little one.  All in good time."

He turns and continues toward the village center.

Cartie leans a bit closer to Niel and the others, and whispers, "things aren't quite what they first appear to be.  But my gut says that the old dude's telling the truth."

After a moment, he adds, "what the heck happened in this galaxy after the Protoculture were defeated?  The Protodevlin here don't act anything like the ones did, back in the Milky-way Galaxy..."

There's the sound of a twig breaking nearby.  As SG-1 turns, they are all hit by powerful Zatt blasts, and are knocked unconscious.

Neil, Frayzer, Jacobson and Thealk all groggily revive in a macron scale room, covered in gold wallpaper, or something similar, covered with hieroglyphs.  Despite the beating headaches and haze that's akin to just having been awoken from a deep sleep, they immediately notice that they are outside of their variable fighters, the variable fighters are not in the room, and Cartie is not with them!

There is an alcove that looks like it's a door, but it's impossible to be certain as there are no handles nor keypads on or near the "door".  Opposite it, is a single window, about waste height for a macron; a good 5 or 6 metres up the wall, for the micron SG-1 team members.  They can see a bit of ceiling on the opposite side, and it looks like a more machinery, mechanical, or service related room, what with all the pipes visible.

SG-1 can try to look out the window, but all three will have to stand on each other's shoulders for but one of them to see out the window.

There's a constant modulating hum in the background.

taking in his surroundings, Neil quickly worries, noticing the weird scrawls and the window he quickly decides that they need to see outside, "Jacobson can you have a look at the scrawls on the walls, Thealk we're gunna make a human ladder and see out that window, your base, i'll be the second rung and frayzer looks out the window, got it people," He says looking round at them, "Lets go then chop chop!"
