Japan electrical power disruptions
« on: July 01, 2012, 09:43:01 PM »
Not sure how directly or indirectly it will influence the majority of our members, but for those that live in Japan, there is an alarming prospect for the months of July and August: mandatory, roving blackouts to conserve power!

For those of you who want to play along at home:
KEPCO: http://www.kepco.co.jp/setsuden/graph/index.html
TEPCO: http://www.tepco.co.jp/forecast/index-j.html

So... all this makes the restart of a smattering of the nuclear reactors appealing.  However, I personally have mixed feelings due to their safety record...

... and for those planning on coming this summer, attention to the power usage history.  You may not want to come this summer if your destination is almost (like 98%+) or already maxed out.
