The Dyson's Sphere (Dyson's Status)
« on: December 20, 2005, 12:29:04 AM »
Due to a recent ass eating at work, my posting rate will be decreased significantly and will try my best to post on the weekends. I'm gonna be working my ass off and may start working on Saturdays too...I'll try and post updates when I can and stuff.

I am in a much better mood because I'm working my ass off at work and feeling satisfied with the progress I've made. Depression nearly got the best of me...nearly got into the liquor cabinet one night...a lot of other things too...

I've been getting a bit more sleep than usual, also getting to work before sunrise and leaving work later in the day while the sun sets makes me feel at ease with the world...which is why I think I feel better about everything.

I've nearly quit going to karate because I need to focus on my work.

Anyway, I got a memo at work saying all the meter technicians like me have gotta work on the weekends for January, NO vacations allowed and NO EXCEPTIONS WILL BE ALLOWED! Monday is supposed to be a holiday but I'm gonna work...gonna work tomorrow too, but Monday is a company holiday for the company. The great thing about this is that I can make ANY day I want to be a holiday because of it! I shall dub it.....errmm...maybe I'll think of something witty later, lol.

Let me guess January must be some big meter reading month that might have to do with the bills rates for the rest of the year?

Reading the thread title made me think of the Dyson Sphere concept

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dyson_sphere

Though this thread has nothing to do with it... sadly.

Forcing you to work weekends ? Does your contract state that they can do that or did you sign one of those daft 'I will work more than 40 hours a week' disclaimers we have in the UK because of the French whinging about working more than 35 hours a week ?? (Not an exaggeration, its the bloody EU interfering again because of French workers complaining about doing additional hours)

Hope that overtime is paid btw !!

Unless his employment contract states otherwise (at which point, Dyson just becomes a dope), all overtime is supposed to be paid at the salary*1.5 rate, with different taxes on it to reflect the difference in pay.

But, Dyson can be glad, 'cause he's not the only one being pulled in for extra time. :-P

Hey I work weekends but I still get a day off.   Are you working 7 days straight with no time off?

I dunno, sometimes they go by the book and sometimes not. I get confused a lot. I need to find me some really impressive steel-toed work boots because my feet are killing me...had foot problems since I worked for my instructor at the fitness center a year or so ago (stayed on my feet for hours with very little breaks). It's slowing down my work performance like a bitch too. :(

Anyway, my computer is still bugging out...and too busy to find time to take it to Best Buy to get it fixed...I think the harddrive is trying to go bad but it could be something else. Damned Norton Anti-Virus 2006 can't get rid of a virus called something W32.Handy something somthing, can't remember the full name.

It's the only virus on the PC and it won't leave! So I dunno if it's possibly that virus or some sort of hardware failure. It keeps rebooting at random times, sometimes it shuts off completely, but VERY rarely. Recently I got an error report saying something maybe overheating (quite possible, thinking about removing the PC cover and let if breath for awhile and see how it goes). EVEN so, I have problems with the sound working at all after rebooting so I dunno.

Anyway, I've been really sick...doctor said it's my allergies but it's NEVER been this bad (had muscle aches and chills that lasted a single day and subsided). So I've missed 2 1/2 days, might miss tomorrow...really dunno how I'll feel.

I HOPE MY CHARACTER ISN'T DEAD! lol!

You know me I only kill off characters if its important to the story, the player stops posting or does the character does something stupid.

In your case I know your busy with work and PC problems.

As for your problems....

I've been working 8 and 7 days in row but I still get a day off eventually.
Your foot problems might have to do with your weight or some other possible medical condition.

You went to school to learn computer and you can't fix yours?  Btw don't email thing with a file in it.

I have allergies.   Just two.  I was actually out sick during my senior of high school because of mine.   Got to see a specialist.  Finish school through corspondance during the summer.  Yes I graduted mail order high school.   You problems might be stressed related.   Did you tell  your doctor about you having depression?

Dyson, you'll be fine if you can get over those allergies (I hope).  Work is a bitch, I'm just glad I don't have JJ's schedule, I'd beat a customer senseless with a baguette or a screwdriver or something, anything handy...

As to your PC woes... I can't help ya from here, but you can fix it yourself by temporarily turning off Windows' auto recovery, finding the virus in your system or (system32) registry in the /windows folder, by using the address Norton provides.  You delete that, then liveupdate Norton and run it, if it comes up clean, then reboot it and finally turn on auto recovery.

At least, that's what the guy at the Geeksquad counter is going to do.

Oh, and for goodness sakes, if you think there's a heat problem, clean the inside w/ a can of compressed air.  Don't ever just leave the side of the case off, it'll actually have a chance of heating up faster because the air-flow has been disrupted!

I knew I started one of these...it was buried quite deep and 2006 none the less...anyway, I know my posting has been pretty late as of recent (around a month, give or take).

Anyway, I need to take some time off for awhile for personal issues. I'm worried about my dads health (he's having really bad circulation problems in his legs...it's because he smokes and is in denial), plus he turns 65 at the end of the month and is losing his insurance (they didnt even notify him and my mother has been trying to get health insurance because he needs it ASAP since around 2+weeks ago). Also not sure what they'll claim if its a pre-existing condition or not and turn him down. Doctor told him he needs stints soon or it's going to get bad.

I'll stop by in a few weeks and leave an update as to what's going on.
