Mid-Space Fold from the Rogue Planet to New Patagonia

The Spartan nature of military quarters meant that even when allowed down time there really wasn't much one could do.  Having been shuffled from location to location so frequently while with the UNI, Zed had come to accept that no place would ever quite feel like home to him.  Not having any personal possessions with him didn't help remove that feeling.  Still, as both he and Mjuiri entered his quarters he could not help but feel safe, if only for the briefest of moments.  Then the physical pain of bodily strain began to set in, and with it the haunting reminder of his adolescent back injury.  Stretching and sighing, he led Mjuiri to the only seat in the whole place, the bed.

Sitting back against the wall, a simple pillow providing a modicum of comfort, Zed cradled Mjuiri in his arms, her head resting on his chest.  "I'm so tired...I just need some rest."  Slowly sleep took him, and with it the beautiful rest of a man holding the woman he loves.

OOC: Loadout shows Zed has no VF, so I'm waiting on the 2050.04.17 post until Sketchley can point me to his correct loadout.

Celes listened in on the questioning, not minding the duty, since she was already in her VF that is.  The words that came from the macro femme had her in shock...

Untouchable merc groups getting downed by a solo beserk pilot?  She was shivering as the name of Earth was brought up as it's the next target.  It all made sense, in a crazy sort of way.  Take out the earth, the rest of the fleet would be in disarray as half of them tried to jump on the mercs, and the rest could be piecemealed one at a time...

When the 2nd LT. started talking to her, it broke Black from her worried state.  "What?  Karaoke?  Don't you think we have something more important to be worried about?  I doubt they'll permit any letters home for the rest of the ship, but going out to a bar?  No, thanks.  Besides we may not get the chance." she lasers back at 2nd Lt. Forinas.

OOC:  Celes is a 1st Lt.    Not a captain.

While not entirely surprised at the 1st. Lieutenant's response, he couldn't help but think she'd burn herself out if she kept pushing herself.  He finally figured that she would never say yes, or recommend a friend, but at the least, he had to find a way to help her settle down before the next mission.

He lasered back, "Alright, but maybe we can just have some tea together before we're deployed again.  You really ought to relax before the pressure gets to you."

EDIT: parsing, & spelling - karaoke.

Vick took a look again on the starship on the starship he was leaving behind, like it could diseapear in a second. He felt he could be back in this infirmery chair he pass most of the last hour, near his friend an colleague Levi, still in coma and imposible to wake, whatever hard he was singning, even with the SES. That spiritia black hole suck all the power he was giving to him. He ask to the edics if that thing could be extract, an they could not anwser him: the ship was in danger of going to combat in any second and the spiritia specialist case was not an emergency: He will stay alive as long that the ship will take to get to a base; they will not risk a chiurgy made by generalists without specialised equipment or personel that could risk the life of the pilot: that was too much risk for nothing. The Levi's case will be dealed back to base. For the moment, the Black Wraiths needed their last spiritia specialist into his pilot seat, so that's where he are.

Well, that wasen't for the view.

The planet was devastated. same as the fleet who was protecting it. Boy, what a mess...

"Eh, Guys... Aren't you on this planet last week? wasen't it supposed to be more...Blue-green?"

A quick check on his sensor give him the nausea.

"O Muse, god of Music, what happened here? I'm scanning for residual Spiritia signature."

His hands fly over the console, trying to get a good reading of his now repaired spiritia sensors.
"You know you got a Good Variable Fighter when you have so much weapons that you don't have enought fingers to press all the triggers in same time!"

2050.04.17 Sunday, Morning
High Orbit of New Patagonia

Dempsey doesn?t need to check his sensors.  For the first time in his life, his eyes see a world utterly and completely devoid of life.  Even space had a bright, albeit faint, glow of spiritia life.  New Patagonia was nothing more than a black circle in his spiritia perceptions.  Even the space around the planet was noticeably less bright in spiritia energy.  Perhaps the absorption of the background spiritia emanations is a residual effect of the weapon that the SSSP used, or perhaps it was all the floating lifeless spiritia entities and vessels in orbit around the planet.  Whatever it was, it scared him to the very core of his being.

?E-e-e-e Earth?!  Wh? wh... wh... when??

?7 hours,? is the Meltraendi?s reply.  Everyone within earshot knows that that isn?t very much time.  The fold back to Earth will take slightly longer?
