Beyond the Black Wraiths character proposal: Nilke Dalkarn
« on: April 02, 2009, 05:14:39 AM »
--PLAYER INFORMATION--
Name: Azazel
E-mail Address: XXXXXXXX

--IN CHARACTER INFORMATION / DOSSIER--

Name: Nilke Dalkarn
Age: 22. There was a twenty minute lapse between Nilke and Alma's (her twin sister) births, thus making Nilke the oldest sibling.
Gender: Female
Lineage: Meltran
Hair color: Red
Hair style: Loose and a couple inches above shoulder-length.
Eye color: Green.
Height: 5`8``
Weight: 52 kg.
Handedness: Right-handed.
Build: Slim.
Distinguishing features: None.
Birthdate: February 20th, 2036
Birthplace: Addenoh City, Girtabilu. Scorpii 18 star system.
Blood Type: B-
Marital Status: Single.
Current Address: Chaerilidae, Kiev-Class Space Battle Carrier
Occupation: Valkyrie pilot
Affiliation: Planetary Defense Force Advanced Tactics and Training Academy (PDFATTA)
Rank: Cadet (CDT)

Awards and/or citations: One letter of commendation on-file. Nilke was put 'in-hack' once though, due to landing on the Chaerilidae's deck after being told that the weather was far too cruddy for her to try a regular landing on FIGHTER mode, something she succeeded at doing.
Character Interests: As far as Nilke is concerned, flying at Mach 5 with her hair on fire (not literally) is the ultimate thrill. She loves wide, open spaces and riding the motorcycle that she won from a classmate while at high-school. While it wasn't that powerful to begin with, Alma's managed to tune it and replace enough parts for Nilke to deem it a somewhat suitable replacement to flying her valkyrie fighter.
Best friend: Frank Woermann Jr. He has been friends with both sisters ever since grade school.
Worst enemy: Scott Renaud, a high-school kid that once tried to get Alma drunk at a party so he could have his way with her.
Turn ons: Speed, the sensation of freedom flying gives her, practical jokes and sports. The more extreme, the better. Action video games, FPS mostly.
Turn offs: Studying, spending time inside a classroom. Nilke has a keen spot in her heart for those that act all superior to her due to the fact that both her and Alma don't come from a family with much in the way of money. Those dumb enough to mess with her sister.
Worst secret: Aside from a brief incident that had both Dalkarn sisters set their home's kitchen on fire by accident as kids, Nilke and Alma switched places with each other while at high-school. It's probably the reason why Nilke managed to obtain her high-school diploma in the first place, since Alma took care of the tests in the classes Nilke wasn't too fond of.
Extended family information:
   Father: Lester Dalkarn (42)
   Mother: Coral Dalkarn (40)
   Sister: Alma Dalkarn (22)
Position: Valkyrie pilot
Callsign: ''Red One"

Brief Service History:

Additional Information: None.

Goals in life:
  • Two year goal - Graduating and finally stepping off the last rung of the ladder, so to speak. She wants to fly to her heart's content with no one bellowing at her so she does everything by the book.
  • Five year goal -  Fly, and do whatever it takes for her to keep doing so. She certainly does not want to be left to rot behind a desk, that's for certain.

Character background:
Nilke and Alma were born daughters to Lester (prior to a legal name change, his first name was Dalkarn. It was moved to stand in as a last name for the Zentran soldier) and Coral Dalkarn, both former pilots to one of the Zentradi fleets that experienced culture at the hands of one of the UN colony fleets roaming the galaxy. An awestruck (and excited) Lester fully embraced the lifestyle changes brought about by their constant contact with the colony fleet to the point where he volunteered to be one of the first Zentradi to become micronized and found a place to live within the UN fleet soon after being discharged from active duty.
Coral, a Queadlunn-Rau pilot, certainly didn't share Lester's enthusiasm, but soon found herself roaming the colony fleets and trying to get a hang of what the human culture was all about. She met Lester while he was working as a bartender inside one of the city's bars, and felt captivated by his point of view and opinions as to the culture the fleet had provided them with.

Coral's issues and concerns at adapting herself to the new lifestyle had her turn to Lester for support every now and then, as she felt him to be the only person she could trust, something that had them become a couple not long after their running into the fleet. As their relationship developed, Lester's growing despise for warfare took a toll on Coral, who resigned to her commission and moved into the fleet to live with him.

Despite Lester's unending supply of enthusiasm, the first few years were difficult for the couple of former pilots as they struggled to find the means to make a living for themselves. Time went by, and the fleet found a planet suited for colonization. By that time Lester'd managed to set-up a small noodle shop within the slums surrounding the city that was built around the fleet's massive dome, with Coral at his side helping him out at running the place.

A couple years later, Nilke and Alma were born. From their earliest days, it was easy for their parents to tell that their first-born possessed something that could only be described as an indomitable nature. Nilke was a curious, strong-headed child that loved the excitement brought about by new experiences, yet despised almost everything that had her stay still in one place for prolonged periods of time. While Alma was somewhat different from her tomboy-ish sister, as her nature had her be a bit more on the reflexive side, she was happy to follow Nilke's lead all the time, keeping each other company from dawn until dusk.

Her eyes soon turned up towards the skies. The red-headed menace (a nickname some of Nilke's teachers came up with) turned down most children stories when she found out about what her parents did for a living, asking them to tell her tales of what flying was like every night.

School was never a happy (or pleasurable) experience for Nilke, and her grades reflected that trait of hers upon reaching grade-school. Save for the few activities that she found pleasing (such as PT), it was a common sight to see Nilke staring out the window or asleep during class.

Most afternoons were spent in front of the TV while playing videogames with Alma at her side. Alma's grades weren't that good either, something that stemmed from her not wanting to get Nilke in trouble. Despite the twins' short-comings at school, theirs was a loving home, and not much time passed before the sisters graduated from high-school, courtesy of Alma's decidedly powerful intellect.

Upon graduating, Nilke took her very first steps towards the skies, but was turned down given her decidedly low academical average while at high-school. She pestered her father about that until he, through an old acquaintance of his, managed to get her enrolled in a civilian flight academy, where she learned the art of flying.

Alma, as to be expected, tagged along for the ride. While she certainly lacked her sister's skill and instincts behind the wheel, her skills at mechanics soon paid off, and was admitted into a brief course on aviation mechanics.

Once Nilke graduated from the brief piloting course, both sisters were hired by a small freight line, and were put in charge of a banged-up shuttle that was used to take farming supplies and goods to settlements on the farthest reaches of the planet. Alma joined her as flight mechanic before long.

Nilke soon grew bored. While it was a flying job, it certainly lacked the excitement she imagined her parents' duties had. What little influence her father still had with the military, along with a letter of recommendation she was able to get from the freight company, were enough for Nilke and Alma to make their way into flight school.

It was, by far, the most difficult time in Nilke's life, given the large amount of assignments that didn't relate to piloting directly, but was able to master them all with Alma's help.

Alright, we're getting things rolling here.  I encourage you to pop into the collaboration thread in the Chaerilidae board and talk with the other players about how well your characters know each other.  Once decided, I need you to fill out a full background.  Birthplace and home will be between Aqrabuamelu and Girtablilu, which you can find a description of here: http://zednairb.macrossroleplay.org/The_Three_Spheres_Source_Book/Locations/Locations.html  You can choose to create a city/town of your choice, and I shall include it in the database, or you may leave it generic and blank to focus more on the character's personality.

I also need your second character sheet posted for the twin.

Alright, awesome job. So far I have just two minor edits, one of which is my fault. I am no longer going with the kiev design of a carrier, so if you wouldn't mind removing that I'd appreciate it. Second is just a minor detail, but the characters will not have arrived on the chaerilidae or seen it yet.  You can keep the history, just change where she landed at that got her in trouble. I suggest the airfield academy they were at for four years. Stormy weather is very common too.
