Lieutenant William "Wolfie" Archer

From the Corner of his eye, Wolfie seen a glimpse of M'juiri strange move to make fun of him, but didn't quite understand what she was doing, exept that it could have been offencent. This stop his determinated step to go talk to the General and he heard Cassel Laughing. Determined of not making laugh of himself, he step back in the room, and now heard Cassel's Diatribe.

"Alright, this is probably going to end badly for whoever they replace us with for the operation.  Kid, go with Major Kavryn and do your preflight and get your flight gear ready in case we get approval for an emergency scramble.  I'm going to try and track down the General and see if we can't avoid losing unnecessary lives."

"I'm not a kid..." The Recon pilot began but he was interrupted bye the allarms:

"all pilots to your fighters!  Emergency scramble!  Repeat, emergency scramble!"

"Oh shit!" He said and began to run to the Pilot's lockers Under the sound of the anti-aircraft batteries and the shocks of explosions. Soon he heard:

"brace for emergency fold!" Soon, the ship changed dimension while he was at the door of the lockers, his squadmates still behind him. He began to put on his flight suit when General Yoshimoto give new orders:

"all pilots to their vehicles!  Ground staff, load all the variable craft, destroid's and ship's weapons with anti-spiritia weaponry!  Captains Alistair, Daniel and O'neill, load the anti-spiritia reaction weapons and make sure your PPB capacitor's are fully charged!"

That was news, and not very good ones. The anti-spiritia ammunitions was primarely used agains't The Sultan's Formidable fighter-scale weapon: The Black Samba. According to Black Wraith old log, the only time when they easily beat this Black Samba, it was with the use of a Spiritia Specialist. Something he wasen't sure it have in this squadron. Sure, he was trainned in the use of spiritia, but it wasen't his speciality. He finish to don his armored spacesuit when Cassel Ask him:

"Kid, you need a check?"

That surprised him. He nodded affirmatively and let his commanding officer check the seals of his suit.

"You know, it's strange for me to be called the Kid when i'm the Elder of a family of 15 childrens..."

He Run to his fighter in the hangar, looking at the weapons technician was loading his different luncher and hardpoint with new missiles. He briefly do a exterior check, just to confirm everything was okay, he completed his equipment at his locker next to the plane and climb the ladder to the cockpit, installing himself and he made a pre-flight check, waitiong for the signal from his weapon tech before doing anything more.
"You know you got a Good Variable Fighter when you have so much weapons that you don't have enought fingers to press all the triggers in same time!"

Maj. Mjuiri "Void" Kavryn

"Ready to be big god damn heroes again?"
Mjuiri gave Zed a small mirthless smile. "I don't know about heroes, but I'm always ready to do what needs be done." The hints of frustration and anger in Zed's voice was not lost on her and in some part they where reflected in her. Not her own anger though, it was borrowed anger. Mjuiri herself had grown to adopt an accept and move on kind of mentality. What was was and one had to work with that. Anger could be useful though in battles and with General Yoshimoto's call to battle fresh in their ears they hurried along.

When they finally arrived in the hangers, pilot suits donned, they found crafts for them being prepared. Be the looks of them the crafts they had requested for their earlier scheduled mission. Mjuiri made a grimace. Had she known this would be the outcome she would have been able to request an 11 after all. They would probably not need the ability to leave atmosphere in this engagement. Still the VF-22S was familiar to her and as she rushed up to it she couldn't help pausing on the ladder to run a hand across its frame. Memories flooded back but she pushed them to the side as she strapped herself in and begun her preflight checks, going by priority of the most essential systems first. There was no guarantee they would have time to do the whole list so basic flight controls and weapon systems had priority. Now lets see what we have loaded...

Once (if?) all checks out Mjuiri reports her status the rest of their little team (and to anyone else that needs to know). "Void ready for battle."

Time since Sheik Yer-bootii took control: 18 days
2059.01.17; about 09:00.
Orbit of "Another Planet", in the M55NGC6909 Planetary Cluster

"Anything I need to know about her before we go up?"

The closest person to him is a red shirt, who simply shrugs before he heads off to help other red shirts.

The purple shirt gives a thumbs up to Major Cassel, and the blue shirt starts waving his hands to indicate that Cassel should board and start moving toward the elevator ASAP.

By the time 1st Lieutenant Archer is seated, the red shirt has already left to mount munitions on other craft in the hangar.  Archer spots a blue shirt waving him toward an elevator.

Major Kavryn joins Cassel and Archer on the elevator, and they take the short trip up to the deck of the ARMD-L.

Major General Yoshimoto's voice erupts from the speakers, "pilots, don't launch, repeat, do not lift off, off of the deck until authorized.  We don't know if the armaments you're loaded with will work, and we might have to refold right away."

The trio arrive on the deck, and the blue shirt waves their craft to the back of a long line of variable craft waiting for the catapults.

The 'sky' is a rainbow of colours as the SDFN-08 continues through the super dimension.

Moments after getting in line, the ship defolds.  Ahead of them is a large, dusty looking planet, with dozens of angry black spots buzzing toward and firing all assortment of weaponry at what looks like an SDFN class that is in the final moments of entering a space fold.

The SDFN-08's anti-aircraft beam guns begin hammering out a steady tattoo of fire at the 50 or so black spots, which are all changing their attention toward the recently defolded ship.

As the black dots approach, Cassel and Kavryn see the all-too familiar, and unmistakable outline of the Black Samba.

The SDFN-08's anti-aircraft fire slices into the Black Samba.  The beams look like they pass through and are absorbed by the barrier fields around the Black Samba.

There's no effect.

The Black Samba return fire.  Immediately, 5 or 6 variable craft in the line ahead of the three on the deck of the ARMD-L are vaporized by a mega-baster-of-death hit.

The Black Samba manage to hit the SDFN-08 in another couple of spots before the SDFN-08 folds away.

The ARMD-L's captain, Commodore Daniel, radios the variable craft on his flight deck, "return to hangar and wait for further orders."

The variable craft return to the hangar.

A minute later, Major General Yoshimoto broadcasts, "pilots, we're going to try it again.  But this time, with MDE weaponry."

The ARMD-L's CAG, Lisle, radios the craft in the ship, "alright flyboys and girls, it's going to take some time to ready the equipment and get it loaded.  Best that you step out to the ready room and get out of my deck crew's way!"

Just as Lisle said, the red shirts are already busy removing the anti-spiritia munitions from the craft.

The deployment with MDE weaponry is pretty much exactly the same as the deployment with anti-spiritia munitions.

There is notable, but muted panic when the SDFN-08 folds away.

There's an announcement that the forces are going to "try something", and they want all the mobile weapons on deck "just in case the Black Samba's get the drop on us."

It's about 12 hours later when preparations are completed and the mobile weapons are deployed over the surface of the ship.  There are some murmurs of canon fodder and the brass not knowing what they're doing as everyone has virtually the same munitions load as the last deployment.

The ship defolds for the third time into the combat zone.  Immediately the AA cannons start disgorging large amounts of bullets - obviously a distraction given their lack of effect the last two times they tried this attack.

The gunfire hides the firing of a single barrel of one of the deck guns.  Whatever the change was, it was effective: the barrier around the Black Samba is simply washed away, and the millisecond delayed follow-up shot of the other cannon in the same deck gun turret vapourizes the Black Samba.

Approximately 49 to go.

The SDFN-08 barely remains in the area long enough to see the shot hit and its effects before it slips back into the Super Dimension.

The mood is definitely elated and there are a lot of worried smiles amongst the pilots who witnessed the hit.

All of the military are summoned to the nearest room to receive a ship-wide briefing.

In the nearest room, the three pilots see a plain looking desk in a simple briefing room.  Major General Yoshimoto sits down behind the desk.  His face is a mask of seriousness.  There is no sign of happiness at the success of the deck gun's conversion.

He puts his elbows on the desk and steeples his fingers in front of his chin and mouth before talking.  "The good news is that we have found a means to counter the defences of the Black Samba.

The bad news is that it uses Super Fold Quartz.  The same material that is allowing us to remain in the past, and has allowed some of us to visit other realities.

The problem is that we don't have enough of the material remaining to convert any other weapons.  And the one deck gun will not be enough to stop the Black Samba on it's own.

We are in the process of tracking down a Fold Bug to get more Super Fold Quartz.  However, there will barely be enough material in one Fold Bug to convert the main beam weapon on less than half of your craft.

Therefore, in the ensuing days, you must decide which beam weapon on your craft should be converted to a Super MDE beam gun.  In addition, you must decide who amongst your copilots should receive the conversion.

Those that don't receive a Super MDE converted weapon will still be deployed when we attack in a few days time.  However, you're job will be to cover those that have the Super MDE weapons, as well as to distract the Black Samba.  With luck, the Super MDE weapons will do their jobs, and you'll be able to take down some of the Black Samba as well.

FBC Teams A through E, please report to briefing rooms F through J on deck 11.  The rest of you have a 24 hour leave with no drink limit.  Dismissed."

One of the other pilots near the three can be heard saying to a buddy, "As much as I need to drink a lot right now... I feel like we're on death row about to be served our last meal..."

Maj. Mjuiri "Void" Kavryn

Mjuiri frowned at the news Yoshimoto delivered. Having a working weapon was of course good, but the one gun per flight? "Wonder why spirita weapons doesn't cut it any more?" Mjuiri commented to Zed mostly but anyone in the vicinity could hear. Tilting her head she added "Think we are back on active duty with this?" as an after thought. "Want to try and get a hold of Yamato or Yoshimoto?"

Major Zed Cassel

Zed stood contemplative with Mjuiri as she mused over the Spiritia Weapons and their next course of action.  "Let's not go over Yamato's head for this," he said.  "We have some time to appeal to her reason.  If nothing else I'm rather certain she would prefer to have us as an extra set of targets for those abominations.  I still don't understand why we keep trying for this same time exit point though.  Its obviously proven to be guarded, which means that its unlikely the objective is still there.  Hopefully we can talk to her about this and the time to cool down will help with her decisions."  Zed's frown betrayed how likely he felt that was, but with no one's life in immediate danger, he felt they should at least try to be diplomatic.

Zed led the way back into the locker room.  "There's no sense in aggravating her over the need for us to fly.  Let's get out of this flight gear.  Archer, why don't you get some rest?  Major Kavryn and I will see to our flight status."  He disrobed and stowed his flight gear in an efficient yet organized manner, knowing he may need to scramble again soon.  Fully clothed in his N.U.N. uniform, he waited for Mjuiri to finish up and queried the location of Colonel Yamato's office on his communicator.

"I agree that we gotta do something. Right now, were not even a squadron. But I remember from the files that you two and your old squadron decimated literally hundreads of theses Black Sambas and other similar weapons. We got to get our hands on theses news weapons. and if i remember well, you had other weapons who where effective too: A kind of knife i think...And songs? I'ved only seen anti-spiritia warhead, but if i remember well, big Spiritia Reaction can only be made by living creature..."

"Archer, why don't you get some rest?  Major Kavryn and I will see to our flight status."

"I don't need rest that much. I think i'll get an over-shoulder look of these new beam weapon. Also, i will check the possibility to change the machine gun of my Nighmare for REB-23 if we could get a set of theses. I was in a pit crew before like them, maybe they will show me some things we don't know. Ill join you in the Messhall for the meal."

Orbit of "Another Planet", in the M55NGC6909 Planetary Cluster

While waiting, Major Cassel attempts to ascertain Colonel Yamato's office on his communicator.  He is a bit surprised to see "service currently unavailable" come up in response.

When Major Kavryn rejoins Cassel and 1st Lieutenant Archer near the entrances to the locker rooms, 6 big MPs surround them.  Even the smallest of them, at close to 200 cm, towers over Cassel, the tallest of the three.

One of the 6 MPs waves an antenna attached to a palm sized device around the three.  He says to the others, "they're clean."

One of the other's says, looking Cassel squarely in the eye, "your data-pads, mobile phones, and any other electronics that you're carrying."

The MPs clench their jaws in serious anticipation until they get all of the electronic devices from the three.  The one with the antenna waves it around the three and reports, "no EMF detected."

When one of the three asks the MPs what's going on, the one that asked for the electronics responds, "it's an order from the top."

There are no other answers to any other questions.  The MPs simply tell the 3 to follow them, and escort the 3 pilots by forming a circle around them outside of the hangar area of the ARMD.  They are lead to two parked Humvee styled vehicles and told to get into the lead one.

As the 3 pilots get in, 4 MPs also get in.  Of the two that sit in the rear seat opposite the 3 pilots is the one with the antenna.  He continually fiddles with the buttons on it's console, and occasionally waves the antenna back and forth in front of the 3 pilots.

Maj. Mjuiri "Void" Kavryn

Being faced with 6 huge MPs was not what she had expected comming out of the locker rooms. "What in the blackness of space.." she began but was interrupted by the rather puzzling waving of the antenna in front of them. Somehow the large MP using the technical device looked comical, like some giant that didn't quite understand how the tiny thing in his hand worked so he just waved it around and tried to look important.

"They're clean"
Mjuiri tilted her head to the side. "Well we did just come from the locker rooms..." she mumbled smiling slightly at her own joke. The MPs did not seem amused though, as expected. Proceeding to relieve them of any electronic devices the encounter just kept getting more weird. What is EMF anyway? The need to know promted a question. "Now that we have established we are 'clean', mind telling us what this is about?" The prompt stiff answer "Its and order from the top." gave them no useful information what-so-ever. Mjuiri gave Zed a look, shrugged and rolled her eyes.

Being led away by the MPs Mjuiri could not keep escape plans from circling through her head, even though she knwe an escape at this point would be pointless. They had no way of leaving the ship or the time-displacement after all. Still, old habits die hard. Once seated in the vehicle the MP with the antenna began fiddling with his device and again began waving the thing in front of them.

"Come on and tell us what it is you are trying to find with that thing already."

Wolfie Didn't get much of that glimpse of the plans, but the techs give him some juicy news about their recent work overload discharging and recharging ammo on the planes, and that changing his machinegun could be probably fesible, since there where regular VF-171 on bord with REB-23 that could be modified, but he would need some high autorisation before beguining to dismantle a perfectly good fighter. In bref, nothing important. He return to the locker to leave his pilots fatigue and while he was exiting the room, he find his way blocked by MP who clearly looked at him as he was waiting for HIM. Nervously, he make a poor smile and said:

"Heee... Hi guys... What can i do for you?"

THey where dead silent. a few second later the rest of his now dismantled squadron rejoin him and he looked at them with the "WTF?" look in his eyes.

"What in the blackness of space.." said Kavryn as one of the MP began to scan them with an antenna.

"They're clean" the MP said, his scan ended.

"Well we did just come from the locker rooms..." Wolfie coulnd not resist to smile, for a second, and the bad ass look of the MP make him loose his smile. One of them looked at Cassel in the eyes. "your data-pads, mobile phones, and any other electronics that you're carrying."

The recon pilot give him his mobile personal communicator, his portable computer, then extract his analysor sensor from his waist tool bag. Finaly, at the insistant look of the MP, he give him his electronic watch, whom he had completely forgoted. A last scan from the antenna equiped MP and he said: "no EMF detected."

Of course; This was a so old cliché that he didn't realised. THey didn't arrest them, they where taking them to some place special.

"Now that we have established we are 'clean', mind telling us what this is about?" asked Kavryn

"Its and order from the top."  Such a classic awnser that Wolfie had a smile, who again he losed immediatlely from the look of an MP. They take them to a Humm-vee and they began to move. The Antenna equiped MP still waving his device at them. Kavryn looked a bit frowned by that object.

"Come on and tell us what it is you are trying to find with that thing already."

"This is the isotropic antenna of an Electro-Magnetic Frequency Detector. A Radio Scanner, if you prefer. This gentlemen is scanning us to see if we have off-timed equipment; like radio emiter who are emiting only one time each 30 second or 1 minute, or other stealth device that could be reactivated afted a delay or on will. The kind of thing a spy would use. He's trying to determine if we are James Bonds."

Major Zed Cassel

Zed was frowning down at his communicator as the MPs approached them.  Well isn't this just icing on the cake.  It rankled him something fierce to do it, but Zed was experienced enough to know that resisting whatever purpose the MP's were there for would not be conducive to longevity.  He stood still and quiet despite Mjuiri's outburst and Archer's chattiness, watching for an indication of what was going on.

One of the other's says, looking Cassel squarely in the eye, "your data-pads, mobile phones, and any other electronics that you're carrying."

"Certainly," he responds.  He makes slow and deliberate movements to remove those items tucked in pockets or other areas that might be large enough to conceal a weapon, making sure not to cause the MP's any concerns.  With their 'escorts' more or less satisfied, Zed resumes a slightly more relaxed posture as they are led away.  Inside he was anything but relaxed.  As they rode he casually glanced about, never making any attempts to directly look at Mjuiri or Archer and raise concerns, though he kept Mjuiri in his peripheral vision.  If he knew her, and the many years spent together surely meant he did, she was planning for the worst just like he was.  And all the while, the rookie kept chatting away.  His mouth is going to land us in trouble.

Zed sighed and tilted his head back in his seat, looking up at the sealing and even leaning far enough back to look behind them, as if all of this was boring him and normal.  Finally he looked up and said, as if to try and make the MP's laugh, "Are we there yet?  This is the last time I use your limo service."

2059.01.17; about 09:00.
Orbit of "Another Planet", in the M55NGC6909 Planetary Cluster
In the MP's Humvee

"Come on and tell us what it is you are trying to find with that thing already."

"This is the isotropic antenna of an Electro-Magnetic Frequency Detector. (...) He's trying to determine if we are James Bonds."

The MP with the device looks sternly at Kavryn, then cocks his head and looks quizzically at Archer when he responds.  When Archer finishes, he resumes what he's doing.

"Are we there yet?  This is the last time I use your limo service."

The MP who had done the talking earlier snorts a laugh.

It takes a handful of minutes to travel through the ARMD and up the arm to the SDFN proper.  From there, it's another few minutes of travel through light traffic through a multitude of bulkheads, passageways, and more than half the time, through the city proper.

The Humvee turns off the main road through this section of the city, and descends down a ramp into the basement of a building that looks very secure and has 'security forces' written all over it (not literally, of course.  The impression the characters get from the exterior.)

The Humvee comes to a stop, and the MP who spoke earlier makes a simple beckon with his hand and says, "with us."

The 3 pilots follow him and are surrounded by the other MPs.  They head up the elevator a dozen or so floors, and get off the elevator.  They head down a deserted hallway.

The lead MP stops in front of the first door they come to.  He points at Cassel and says, "you, inside."  The same action is repeated with the other two at the next two doors.

Inside their separate rooms, the pilots find a white room, empty except for a single table, two chairs, two security cameras on opposite corners of the room, and what looks like a doorbell button next to the door-frame.

5 minutes later, the door opens, and a man enters.

OOC: Feel free to read the content by and for the others in the game, but I fear it may be detrimental to your individual game experiences.

BIC: City Section - Secure Building: Interrogation Rooms

Cassel:

A short (relative to Cassel), stocky Asian man enters.  He's the spitting image of Odd-job from Goldfinger, in his suit.  He doesn't have a hat.  He sets his briefcase down next to a chair, and sits on it.  "Have a seat, old boy," he says, in a British accent.

He opens the briefcase smoothly and withdraws a single file, placing it in front of him and opening it.  He takes his time doing it, and gives the impression that he's done it so many times, it's become a ritual for him.

Odd-job takes out a single pen, and clicks the nib out, and then rapidly back in and out again.  He looks at Cassel.

"Mr. Cassel, there are some questions regarding your actions upon arrival in this ship that need to be clarified."

Odd-job tilts his head to one side, as he carefully thinks of his next question, "what is your relationship with Sheik Yer-bootii?"

Kavryn:
A woman enters, who looks like Onatopp in her final scene in Goldeneye (sans weapons, of course).  She swaggers over to one of the chairs, turns it around, and sits on it, with her arms crossed over the top of the back, and her chin resting on her arms.

"Hi honey," she purrs, winking at Kavryn.  Onatopp chews her gum obnoxiously loud.  "Like, what's up with those piggybacked transmissions you've been sending out?"

Archer:
A tall, extremely tall man enters who looks like Dr. No, with his extraordinary long arms and black latex-gloved hands.  The 200 cm tall many positively towers over Archer's 176 cm height.

He looks down at Archer with intelligent eyes that probe Archer's.  Dr. No stands, with his arms folded behind his back.

"Mr. Archer," he says, speaking slowly, carefully, and clearly.  "It appears that you have found yourself in a lot of trouble."

Dr. No looks down his nose at Archer.  "What is your relationship with a Mr. Cassel and a Ms. Kavryn?"

Major/Captain Zed Cassel

Zed had cooperated with the MP's out of prudence, but now that he'd seen the interrogation room and the almost bored way he was being handled, he'd had enough.  He didn't bother looking at the file, and instead sat straight up and took a few measured, relaxing breaths, no mirth but also no ire evident on his face.  "I do not feel it would be prudent to discuss anything on such matters until I know who you are, and until I see official notice regarding your authorization to inquire on such subjects.  I would personally look into this by contacting Major General Yoshimoto, but unfortunately it seems I find myself without any communication equipment.  So if you expect any cooperation at all, I highly suggest you prove to me that you are supposed to have me in this room."

Zed offers a smile and gestures towards the man, "I don't mind waiting of course.  I'm sure someone in your position can understand someone in my position.  For example, you would be wondering at the odds of someone who is a double agent procuring MP uniforms, or worse, MP's themselves in order to appear legitimate.  Then there's the file presented, which could easily be doctored or stolen.  Of course I imagine that someone such as yourself would also cooperate immediately once your concerns were addressed.  I do hope we are as similar to each other as it appears."

Cassel

Odd-job listens intently, smiles, and pulls a single piece of paper out of his briefcase.  "I am Colonel Odd-job.  As I anticipated your reaction, I had the Major General write you a note."

Odd-job slides the note across the table.  It's a single A4 with a handwritten, "Cassel, you are hereby ordered to answer his questions", and is signed by Major General Yoshimoto.

Cassel recognizes the writing as being Yoshimoto's.

Odd-job looks at Cassel ernestly.

Major/Captain Zed Cassel

Zed read's the note and nods to Colonel Odd-job.  While he is now certain this isn't a trap from Sheik Yer-bootii's men, he isn't quite certain it is not a trap from Major General Yoshimoto's men.  "Thank you very much, Sir," Zed says.  "I believe your question was in regards to any previous or ongoing contact with Sheik Yer-bootii?  Or perhaps more specifically the nature of any and all actions between Tuesday the fourteenth of September, two thousand fifty-five and roughly fifteen to twenty minutes ago?  That's what this really is about isn't it?  Well Colonel, history has a funny way of rewarding those that stand against tyranny no matter the personal cost."

Zed pauses a moment and slowly stands up and paces the room behind his chair.  "I intend to cooperate with you Colonel, in so far as I can, but you will not be given the location of the Xantho Poressa.  I will not betray my crew, and they are not under the N.U.N.'s jurisdiction.  As for my actions, I stand by them, regardless of the rumors that reach 'civilized' space.  My actions aboard this ship have been coloured by my experiences these past twelve years, but I am not in league with anyone that seeks to dominate the galaxy and subjugate others.  The last contact I ever had with Sheik Yer-Booti was recorded in the official reports of the Black Wraiths, of which I never was in personal contact with him."

Zed stopped pacing around the interrogation room, his face not betraying any regret or shame.  "Colonel, there is not a thing I wouldn't do to see the past returned to that which we know.  I believe the N.U.N. meddling into time and dimensional travel is immoral and ill-advised, but I find myself glad that my reservations landed me on this ship to make a difference in this void of consequence that we are in.  When this is over, I fully intend to discuss with Major General Yoshimoto the necessity of destroying any and all technology capable of changing historical events.  I've first hand seen the dangers of meddling in time."

Zed gently sits himself down in his seat and leans his arms forward onto the desk in order to read the file provided by Colonel Odd-job.

Edit OOC:  Sketchley, I can tell you more of the actions Zed is alluding to in pm if you require.
