The Meisel-Schasler Pz.Kmfgh 86 is a Panzerkampfergeher (Armored Fighting Walker) Golem that first saw service in 903 NE and was the work horse of the 2nd Empire. As Myer Pharmaceutical production of PSYKER was limited, and fewer able to swallow the increased cost associated with it, the Pz.Kmfgh 86 was favored due to its simple design, solid protection, and versatile frame. The golem proved easily modifiable in the field to react to ever changing battle conditions.

Meisel-Schasler performed several updates to the design in the four decades the unit has been in service, including a co-pilot/sensor operator, emergency ejection system for the volatile powercell, and thicker armor. In 937, the power plant was replaced with Vanbach's powerful DPC108 powercell to better cope with the increased weight, however the DPC108 isn't as efficient as Vanbach's later power plants and requires frequent replacement. A quick-change plug introduced in 939 helped ease the problem, enabling refitting a new cell in the field.

The standard weapon, Yulle Golem Autopistole, is capable of firing its 42mm aubrausendKugel (aK - High Explosive) at a cyclic rate of 200 rpm. The attached bayonet, plus large shield and its heavy armor, allows the Pz.Kmfgh 86 to perform quite well in close quarter assault. Standard 75cm blast grenades and smoke grenades round out the standard armament package.

The increased availability of PSYKER and more capable units has reduced the battlefield presence of Meisel-Schasler's flagship platform. The majority are used in reserve, garrison, and training divisions. The vast number produced since its introduction also find many Pz.Kmfgh 86 in the hands of mercenaries, pirates, and smugglers - either stolen from military armories or salvaged from battlefields.

Junkaurs was formed by Fuvam GmbH as a subsidiary 941. In the ensuing conflicts, the Pz.Kmfgh 86 began showing its age an inability to cope with the heavly armored and gunned golems being fielded by competitors. Assaults by Releom's Calatrava units, with its heavy armor, vast weapon suites, and mobility via solid fuel boosters cut through formations of Pz.Kmfgh 86s. Culled from Meisel-Schasler's best, Junkaurs set about designing a new Hauptkampten (Main Battle) Golem to respond to the changing armored walker tactics.

To save time, Junkaur used the Pz.Kmfgh 86's chassis, placing a high efficiency Vanbach HYC 60TRM power plant capable of providing up to 6 hours of continuous power and driving the Vanbach Zip wheels in the legs. Its lower yield and the planned weaponry meant armor had to be reduced somewhat, offset somewhat by the greater mobility. A Lorenz SG40 interface provided greater response and feedback with the pilot, but required a psychic pilot or use of PSYKER to interface properly with its paired Zuse Z1 Targeting Assistance System. The sensor suite also saw major upgrades, increased range and inclusion of an advanced sensor package allowing the unit to use its smoke grenades without being blinded itself.

The grenades were the only weapons to stay on the Ju-127M, the shield and GaP being traded in for a Yuller Kampfgeherkanone (KgK - Fighting Walker Gun). Firing massive 85mm Panzergrenate (Pzg APCP - Armor Piercing Composite Rigid) rounds with a heavy metal core with a muzzle velocity of 940m/s up to 7 km away, although armor penetration falls steeply past 600m

Shoulder weapon mounts were fitted with a 10mm Autokanone for infantry suppression and a rack of 3 LR Golemknacker (Golem buster) missiles used to engage targets at long range. Pilots quickly learned to get rid of them before the enemy could engage as they became a choice target on those that failed to launch all of them.

The Ju-127M has quickly replaced all others as the main battle Golem, combining increased mobility with long-range firepower and armor penetration. Like the Pz.Kmfgh 86 it was based on, the Ju-127M is also a flexible platform, with numerous field modifications increasing armor, increased weaponry, advanced EW and recon suites, and even flight systems.

Part of Calatrava's dual machine philosophy of striker and assault golems, the Ca-168 was a rude awakening to Vukner and Fuvam when their main stay Golem, Pz.Kmfgh 86 could do little against the heavily armored and armed StuG. Although Calatrava's superschwere Assault Golems is more famous (or infamous), the StuG have racked up significantly more kills, thanks to it's high maneuverability and mobilty offered by its flight system. While opponents of the Golem with point out its high mass, inefficient thrusters, and numerous weapon systems prone to failure, these problems rarely help platoons of pilots encountering these formidable golems.

Complete designation is Calatrava Ca-168 Stürmergeher-befehls Ausführung von Heller (Striker Walker - Command, batch von Heller) this Ca-168 is the personal Golem of Karl Bernhard Von Moltke. In addition to the normal Command upgrades (redundant and increased communication range, advanced sensor suite, commander assault weapon package), this model was sent to Von Heller Golemwerkes for a null-psi overhaul.

The entire unit was gutted, installing a proprietary power generator that doesn't require replacement and isn't nearly as volatile as conventional psi cores. A T52 interface system equals the performance of normal psionic interfaces but doesn't require a psion or PSYKER to operate. All around armor was increased utilizing advanced asteroid alloys to reduce mass. Offering greater protection than regular plating, weight is actually reduced. Lastly, a vectored thrust package was installed to not only increase flight speed (2.5 G acceleration vs. normal 1.5 G) but also increase handling and responsiveness. This 2-in-1 system is also proprietary to Von Heller.

The Command assault weapons is augmented with a custom, short-barrel version of Yuller's venerable 85mm KwK.

The xK-1 started as the brain child of Kasey von Heller. Everything was designed from the ground up, throwing away conventional Golem design. Starting with a streamlined light frame, reinforced and strengthened for rigidity. This allowed the use of high tensile servo molymers usually used only in the heaviest of Golems. Likewise, a Ewig 030 powerplant, designed for 80+ ton Golems, was squeezed in before being heavily modified and supercharged to deliver even greater power. Outer armor of 61mm of a new triple composite alloy protects everything, and is able to withstand 30mm rounds without loss of integrity.

Like their conversions, the xK-1 uses a system of vectored thrusters to improve maneuverability. Unlike their normal work, the xK-1 utilizes an experimental array of individually articulating wing sections, with a torso sub thruster providing stability. In each leg stores the Verstärker boosters. Usually used for heavy fire-support Golems to clear obstacles, the xK-1 can use these powerful boosters in tandem with its thrusters to achieve speeds in excess of Mach 3.

Discarding conventional projectile weaponry, the xK-1 Project developed an electronic whip capable of holding an electro-magnetic charge to entangle and subdue enemy Golems. Once caught, an electrical shock can be sent from overpowered powerplant to incapacitate enemy pilot while leaving the machine relatively undamaged. In addition, combined with the superheavy molymers, the whip is still capable of causing significant damage.

The xK-1 Project has since been cancelled. As the von Heller brothers competed with each other for the company's limited production and research resources for their respective projects, Kasey von Heller took the unfinished prototype and disappeared. Scattered sightings of a mysterious Golem resembling the xK-1 was reported among the Fringe Worlds, however all claimed a woman pilot...

Shortly after finishing developing the Ju-127M, Junkaurs immediately turned to creating a Zerstörergeher (Destroyer Walker) Golem to fill a much needed fire-support role. Again, to save development time, the team turned to the Pz.Kmfgh 86 frame to base their design on while replacing the sluggish manual interface and installing a powerful Vanbach powercell. The sensor array was significantly upgraded with greater range and wider spectrum, plus a Zuse Z2 Targeting Assistance System. Lighter alloys was used to armor it, reducing mass for the numerous planned weapon systems. Solid fuel boosters were installed in the legs to provide limited mobility used primarily to reach high ground or expedite 'strategic withdrawals."

Initially, it was planned to have a modified KgK for long range as the main armament, a shoulder mounted KgK for medium range, an arm mounted autokanone for short range, and shoulder mounted rockets for indirect fire. The long development time of integrating that many weapon systems into the design caused them to scrap the idea and instead opted for Yuller's new 104mm KgK gun and several different missile and rocket options for the shoulder mounts to fulfill the design obligations of short, medium, and indirect fire weapons.

This variant was commissioned for Dunstig. The Ausf. D revision forgoes missile packs and rocket pods. The mount instead is used to support the 16cm Goerz Geher Gewehr Haubitze (GGeH - Walker Gun Howitzer). Standard aufbrausendKugel (aK - High Explosive) and Struenschuss (StS - Scattershot) shells are fired at a flat trajectory like a gun, while the Explosionschuss (ExS.i - Blast I) are fired as artillery. The massive recoil of this weapon requires a weapon mount and both hands to be used properly. The feet plate were designed with retractable traction pads to better absorb the recoil.

This Ju-128Z Ausf. D was further modified with space and underwater environmental protection, and the boosters in the legs replaced with a Vanbach flight system. Removing the rockets in the arms allows the installation of maneuver verniers to increase responsiveness and maneuverability.

The question, however, becomes who would finance such a Golem for a man with no memory? And, perhaps more importantly, why?
